Any hope the Kickstarter was actually popular enough to convince someone at Square to pitch another FFT or FFTA game?
I mean, to get to this comment section you presumably had to click on a headline article that directly reads:
Push through the beginning tutorial area. It’s definitely the low point of the game, and it will get better as soon as you are done.
Not necessarily disagreeing with your points, but there’s a marked difference between the ethical responsibilities of a elected official like a politician and a company that makes electronic leisure items. It’s a good idea for a company to remain cordial with the journalism industry if they want to maintain the…
On the other hand there is a trade off for such independence. Not that game companies should coerce or bribe game news sites, but when a site reports negatively on a game, there is no real incentive for a game studio to willingly play along with it either. It becomes very much a non mutual relationship. Maybe that’s…
Interesting. Hadn't considered it from that angle. Something to think about.
This is the one argument for piracy I can support at all. If a game is no longer actually being sold, and is no longer readily available, then there really isn't anyone to pay for the work. This is becoming tricky though with the advent of thing like GOG and the Nintendo virtual console.
The same way it always gets dragged into a situation and abused. Because someone wants to exploit the tragedy of the commons and screw the whole thing up for personal gain.
Except for the huge cost of materials and labor that went into the manufacturing and development of that game in the first place. Especially if they are a smaller studio dependent on the initial sales to recoup expenses.
But then if the developers really wanted that, then wouldn't they just release free copies of their game, or make it free for a limited time? It's not like those tools aren't at their disposal if they just wanted to get the word out. This would also deliver word of their product along a larger strata of users, not…
Of course! Pirates are like modern day Robin Hoods! They are stealing recreational items, not out of a petty desire for free games they have no entitlement to just because they REALLY want them, but for justice!
Which would morally justify a boycott for luxury items like video games, but does not in my opinion justify piracy. As much as I love and enjoy video games, we are not entitled to them just because we want them.
Guess I'll wait until I see what Sony and Valve are going to charge.
That breathalyzer seems to be a prime members only deal.

Yes, it’s relatable to do the illogical thing to save your loved ones. But on the other hand, the character forced into that position doesn’t need to be given an unlikeable personality in order to create someone who would make that choice. Case in point, Joel from the game TheLast of Us. Han Solo abandoning his own…
Yeah, but here he isn’t presented as the closest thing we have to a protagonist. Anakin was an unlikeable hero who fell to the dark side. Kyler is an unlikeable villain. One works better in a narrative than the other.
But is possible to have grass that is not green. The original post was implying that Kyler Ren being emo is a defining characteristic of being Kyler Ren, thus it is redundant. I think that’s how it works anyway. I’m not sure at what point describing something turns to redundancy instead of description or explanation.…
But the reason that your stop sign example isn't redundant is because you can have a stop sign that isn't red, correct? The original post was implying that the statement that Kyler Ren is emo seems redundant, because being emo is a defining characteristic of being Kyler Ren, and that it is impossible to have a Kyler…
Unless one was making a joke that the name Kyler Ren is a descriptor that is synonymous with being emo, or that being emo is a definitive trait of being Kyler Ren.
