I don’t know the facts of Colt but taking your post at face value, the PE firm screwed up then and they took the brunt of the hit as their equity value gets written down meaningfully. They may have been stupid but being stupid and unethical are two different things.

You literally have no idea what you are talking about. By definition the PE firm (and its LPs) are taking the most risk as equity holders are the last paid out. The debt investors who have little to no management say also bear risk but are paid out before equity.

The Tesla is certainly an amazing combination of technology and has its place, but for a lot of car afficianados it will never scratch the itch.

There are literally dozens of pretty average costing cars these days with 400 plus hp. Mustangs, camaros, base corvettes with close to 500hp, and on and on and on. That did not exist in the 90s. I…
