Dry January 2019. Made it until January 3.

2017 was a year to remember, but also a year to try to forget. My good pal, her roommate and I went to bar in which the bartender was covering our drinks.
Heck, I'm not even a parent and think hangovers aren't worth it.
A) fuck your mom, what a horrific way to treat your child
Oh my fucking god yes. Yes they did.
Sounds about White.
My father, who is 78 and a Bill Buckley-style Republican, gets his coffee at a shop with a trans man working the register. My dad manages to call this man by his (masculine) name or “Sir” every morning. He has said he, “doesn’t really get it” but then he shrugs because why would he care? What’s it to him or Vlaming…
‘he was at risk of losing his job for having views held by “most of the world for most of human history.”’
Period!
He seemed to be able to take one on the chin though. Meghan still hasn’t grown out of the “stick your fingers in your ears and shout-LA LA LA- I cant hear you” stage
He actually resigned several weeks ago, but he didn’t think he had to report it to the school.
It really pisses me off how in the Thrillist article he wrote something like “Stanich was going through family problems that plague most families.” Ummmmmmmmmmm strangling your terminal wife in front of your son isn’t something that “plagues most families.”
What struck me most reading the NY Times article was the woman who said “Nobody would expect this in Thousand Oaks”. My answer to that is.. really? Because I expect it there. And here where I am. And the tiny town I am from. At this point, I find it bizarre to ever be surprised by this stuff happening anywhere.
had been suspended because he placed “his hands on a young woman.”
I’m in MN-5 so I knew Omar would get in, but I was cautiously optimistic about Paulsen and Lewis losing. I didn’t realize Paulsen’s district had been red since 1960! Also relieved about Keith Ellison because his opponent would have supported Trump on everything and would have been a disaster for LGBTQ people.
The headline for the STRIB this morning was so, so satisfying. “DFL SWEEP!” Take that assholes!
My district sent Erik Paulsen packing, so that was nice. My previous district elected Ilhan Omar. And Jason Lewis got the boot an few miles east. All in all, it was an adequately satisfying evening.
It’s not over. This is a good start, but clearly there’s a lot more work to be done. 2020 is coming. So is 2022, 2024, 2026, etc., etc., etc. This isn’t building a table, after which you can sit down and admire your handiwork. This is cleaning the house and doing the laundry, after which you can be sure you will soon…
I can’t decide if tonight is going to be Vodka Mint Lemonade or Whiskey Sours. Depending on how election night goes, I could opt for both.
