I’m not sure how that argument necessarily helps Allen.

IT’S A MOVIE for gods sake! The actors aren’t in a real relationship WTF???
I hope some day we see the Rey’s Parentage Fan Theory spreadsheet he was working with.
The dumb internet hill I choose to die on is arguing that Abrams and Kasdan didn’t even set up Snoke or Rey’s family as big mysteries — they were there to explore if the next guy wanted to, and he obviously had mixed feelings about what was and wasn’t worth pursuing.
OMG! I want to marry her now! I mean, you know, if I wasn’t already married and if, like, she’d be totally into it and stuff. Otherwise, maybe it’d just be cool to, like, have a drink someplace and chat... or just, hell, be my friend on Facebook. I don’t have any witty friends. Dammit.
Jesus Christ... Scrawler’s in the greys?! What’s this world coming to?
This exactly. Fuck the idea that it’s somehow sexy and romantic for women to do all the work of “fixing” terrible men while dating them, putting up with their abuse and selfishness in the hopes that one day they’ll be “better.”
On one hand, I’m glad that people are attacking her for a different reason than the one I initially assumed. On the other hand, GET A LIFE! I especially loved the comment that tries to defend Reylo on the grounds of redemption. I mean, no shit, who doesn’t love a good redemption story? But guess what? Redemption…
Honestly, people!? Honestly!?
Never doubt the Wisdom or Star Wars fandom of the Petri-Dish...
Alexandra Petri is a national treasure, I am ecstatic to find out she was behind this!
“The Reveal of Kylo Ren’s parentage is tearing Twitter apart”
Right?
Bad enough people are fighting mad about the Star Wars movies, now they’re flipping out about joke Star Wars Twitter accounts.
I hope this leads at least some of those people to Ms Petri’s frequently very funny Washington Post columns.
Holy shit, this exactly. I’d say if this person has time to angry tweet about a fucking Star Wars parody account then they already have WAY too much time on their hands.
All of this made me laugh. This Petri person is my new role-model.
Just the term “shippers” annoys me, you can imagine how I feel about the people that actually do it. Reminds of those crazy people that watch soaps and vilify an actor for the part they play if they see them out in public. Apparently there’s a fine line between fandom and complete lunacy.
Not that I was the most mature geek when I was young, but today’s fandom is unrecognizable to me. I can barely imagine “shipping” a pair in any serious sense, letting alone feeling personally wronged by someone publicly mocking it.
i’ve read this article three times and i still don’t understand what people are mad about
I have no time for such immature behavior.
