The dumb internet hill I choose to die on is arguing that Abrams and Kasdan didn’t even set up Snoke or Rey’s family as big mysteries — they were there to explore if the next guy wanted to, and he obviously had mixed feelings about what was and wasn’t worth pursuing.

Bad enough people are fighting mad about the Star Wars movies, now they’re flipping out about joke Star Wars Twitter accounts.

I hope this leads at least some of those people to Ms Petri’s frequently very funny Washington Post columns.

Holy shit, this exactly. I’d say if this person has time to angry tweet about a fucking Star Wars parody account then they already have WAY too much time on their hands.

All of this made me laugh. This Petri person is my new role-model.

Just the term “shippers” annoys me, you can imagine how I feel about the people that actually do it. Reminds of those crazy people that watch soaps and vilify an actor for the part they play if they see them out in public. Apparently there’s a fine line between fandom and complete lunacy.

Not that I was the most mature geek when I was young, but today’s fandom is unrecognizable to me. I can barely imagine “shipping” a pair in any serious sense, letting alone feeling personally wronged by someone publicly mocking it.
