He’s a Madison guy? What are the odds that he is the owner in question? Would be too beautiful and perfect for this world.

You’re just pissed off nobody invited you out to happy hour on Thursday. “I’d like to see their fb pictures on Monday morning. Weeks not done, guys.”
Just to say it- your response to this piece ( I am sensitive to writing by young feminists that seemingly put down the married-with-childrens and I didn’t get that from this piece) actually suggests to me that you might be grappling with your feminism in relation to motherhood and marriage in ways that maybe you…
You know how reverse racism isn’t a real thing? This is pretty much the same deal — childless women who eschew marriage and makeup are not in a position to do you harm as you pursue your just-coincidentally-patriarchy-approved path. So instead of inflicting us with your neediness by misinterpreting passages that posit…
This is a fantastic idea, and perfect for holiday shopping! Everyone, but especially my shit-headed Trump-voting relatives, is getting gifts from women/POC/LGTBQ/immigrant-owned shops. Because if I have to give you a present, something good is going to come out of it. Maybe I can get a few donations sprinkled in, too.
I saw this on Pantsuit Nation:
No suggestions but wanted your post to be seen! :-)
I think saying you’re “holding your nose” to vote for a presidential candidate is just a weird way to put it. What you’re doing is voting for someone who you don’t entirely agree with because of the only two options that will come to pass, you know one is better than the other. It’s the same thing most of the…
I wish it was a surprise that all the female staff are upfront about voting for Hillary while a lot of the (mostly white) male staff either aren’t voting for either candidate because they’re not in a contested state or have to “hold their nose” to vote for her.
It’s astonishing isn’t it?
“Voting is fine, but it’s not enough about me. How can I make it less about other people and more about my perception of myself?”
Speaking as person who’s been suicidally depressed since childhood, I’m kind of an unofficial expert on suicide methods. Death via exsanguination is hard. There are certain conditions that must be met (that I won’t list because I don’t want a suicidal person read this and take it as advice) to hit the artery and even…
I agree, but in this case, she would have found something else.
You just disproved the point you were trying to make. It’s far easier to kill yourself with a gun than with, say, a whole bottle of aspirin. Had your relative used a gun instead, she would probably not have “immediately regretted it and told her parents”... she would have most likely been dead.
Except the first thing they teach you in nursing when it comes to suicidal ideation is if you can get them away from the immediate dangers it increases their overall chance of survival.
So, see the second comment in this thread.
data says that’s not true. if you can slow someone down even a little (in the UK acetaminophen is only sold in blister packs for this reason) they’re unlikely to complete the attempt.
yes, it would have. the vast majority of suicidal impulses are fleeting and if you don’t have means to accomplish it or even if you can just slow someone down a little, they’re far less likely to try again.
The data shows that most suicide survivors do not attempt again. You shouldn’t make factual claims based on your “feelings”, which, as far as I can tell, are where this claim is usually coming from when you make it.
I don’t think that’s necessarily true. I’m sure there is research on this. Adolescents (and pre-adolescents) are incredibly impulsive. In some cases, for sure, a suicidal person will find a way. But having easy access to a gun makes it so easy to act at the height of emotion, whereas someone who had to make a plan and…
“But, but, but...it’s not the gun’s fault. If a person wants to kill themselves they’ll find a way to do it.”
Also, fuck you people who espouse that logic.
