learning how to use biology to reason through

AW HELL NO. Up to 79 is Gen X. Of course, I got 1980, so I'm too old to be a millenial and would like them all off my lawn, but too young for Gen X. Whatever. I'm a monkey.

This! My parents-in-law both worked for the same company since they were 18, and both got screwed in many ways throughout their careers and were forced out at the end. People these days don't stand for that, and good on them.

What kind of professors do you know? I don't know any academic hoppers because a)they want tenure and b)the market is so saturated there's nowhere to hop to. Unless they're adjuncting, but I don't personally know anyone that masochistic.

Professors can't hop if they want tenure. And due to the glut of PhDs, hopping is rather difficult to accomplish anyway. Unless you're adjuncting, and then you're practically forced to.

Interesting. I'm not in my 20s, but I'm early in my career, so close enough. I've noticed a lot of my colleagues job-hop and wonder if they're ever going to settle somewhere. Sometimes I want to shake them and say "give it up, the perfect place doesn't exist," but I'm doing the same thing looking for a "not perfect

I kept admiringly looking at CA results last night to make myself feel better about the national picture. Please don't change, California.

Were they wearing white coats or just scrubs? Because if they were wearing white coats I just extra give up on everything.

Anti-science liberals actually piss me off more than anti-science conservatives.

If I do any kind of floor workout at home, my cat comes over all "you must be on the floor to pet me right? Hey, what are you doing? You are not petting me. You will now stop doing that and pet me. PET ME HUMAN."

Wouldn't that be rape?

I really have no idea. It does look kind of oddly sqwooshed.

Robinson's my jam.

Yeah, I'd like to do something like that once my student loans are paid off (straight up can't afford to right now). I'm just in a people-helping mood. What's frustrating is I can definitely help people via public health, and in theory vets are needed in public health because so many of these diseases get started in

It's basically the world's lamest haunted house about how scary abortion and sex out of wedlock and other sinning is.

I really should do something like that when my student loans are paid off and I can actually afford to take a few months off.

Actually I'm from Russia, which is favored by the Mercator but I always found it utterly ridiculous looking and so did most others.

Yep, and I was angry about that too. I get really irate when our leaders talk about how important it is to "help the people" in a certain part of the world and how important it is for us to continue to be the world's policeman and blah blah blah when we only seem to do this in areas of strategic importance and let a

I have an almost disproportionate hatred of the Mercator projection. In my native land we dismissed it as ridiculous and laughable and used pretty much any other one, but here's it's the default.

I don't even know what's worse: the ignorance of African geography and culture, the lack of help from supposedly civilized countries because we're too busy bombing places with oil, the refusal to understand how ebola is transmitted similar to how people thought you could get AIDS from a pool, etc, etc, etc.
