The only way to get through Moffat episodes is to not think about it. Because once you start thinking about it, then you have to consider what exactly the French gave as a present to the US. In multiple pieces. Made out of copper. And where the tunnels through the statue come from...

And really, the issue of the Doctor not going back in time to get Rory and Amy was present in Blink as well.

Yup, this was pretty terrible all around. A bunch of weepy moments glued together with mud and chewing gum. As you mentioned, most of this episode made no sense. There were so many plot and logic holes here that it's ridiculous. IE it's a standard Moffat ending to a Moffat story arc. Most ideas introduced by

And, what's your point? A great engineer can be a terrible cook. A brilliant mathematician can be awful at plumbing and home repair. And a great writer can be horrible at producing and show-running. As we've now learned.

Ah, you are right, my bad. Wikipedia failed me (again). :-D

It was OK but not great. As you pointed out it felt rushed, and should have been at least stretched out over a 2-parter. If not a mini-arc for the season.

This. Yes. You have just proven yourself to be a better Dr. Who showrunner than Moffat. Exactly!

Agreed. I can't wait for the Dalek girl to come back. And Moffat to go away.

Agree completely, except that I also hate Moffat's basic fairy tale idea. IMHO he is simply incredibly uneducated when it comes to science. His wildest idea on science in this episode was to boil the cubes in water and drive a tank over them.

Meh. Once again Moffat manages to completely underwhelm me. This entire episode feels like a merchandizing move - BBC wants new nicknack to sell, these black cubes should be really cheap to make, so we get a nonsensical story about black cubes "invading" the planet. And spending a year just sitting around. For

Sure thing, will do.

Oh wow, nice! Thanks! According to Wikipedia four books have already been published - I might have to find them. :-D

Pass. Really really pass. This show fails for me on multiple levels:

Yup. I really don't like Moffat's influence on Dr. Who. He is determined to tell fairy tales and is certain that science fiction = magic. I think his excuse was that he tried to read some science ideas about this stuff, but it was too confusing for him, so he gave up. If I was him, I would be embarassed to tell

Well, it means that the comic is providing a distinct influence (or some ideas) for the movie.

LOL - I had the exact same reaction to "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". The movie description started with "a woman who was raped" - done.

Yup, ditto - same here.

Well, they do have the Russian supervillain chick in the movie. We saw screenshots of her. And she appeared in the terrible comic version.

Let's just hope there is less rape and mass murder here than in the craptastic Kick-Ass 2 comic. When Millar can do whatever he wants, apparently he goes nuts.

I see the ambivalent position of Jax. But that's not even close to Mengele. There is absolutely no ambivalence when it comes to him - he was a psycho monster through and through.
