There are few things funnier than Larry David on a plane. After this horrible day I needed some laughs and this episode delivered.

LD was deliberately antagonizing people. He has done this for much of his career. Curb is the perfect vehicle for this. He used to do stand up and purposely completely confound people. Loved by comedians. Hated by audiences. Does nobody remember “palestinian chicken”?

I just laughed at that Hitler magician joke again. God Bless LD.

So specific.

This looks off the hook. I’m in.

It is indeed a mess. Fewer participants and a clunky as f*** interface. Ah well.

TBH I also prefer this show to GOT.

There’s definitely Fincher-isms. To me it has a more digital aesthetic than fight club or seven (which is natural since those two were shot on film). Closer in subject and visual approach to Zodiac imo (and visually related to Social Network in parts). The season was not a home run IMO but it was a good watch.

Probably more a matter of taste than anything else. My primary interest is the atmospherics of the show so when too much plot is flying it gets distracting to me. However I suspect in general most people prefer more plot vs less plot.

Yeah...mighta been a touch of that. The constant repetition. Tonally a bit different but some shared DNA there.

Yeah...especially 2049 with the rapid fire repetition. Still unclear to me whether the interrogator in 2049 was a robot or human. Very unnerving. Shawn is great in this ep. I just felt it was slightly over edited. Still a strong sequence for sure.

location geek aside: It was only a matter of time till Mr. Robot shot at FDR four freedoms park on roosevelt island. I used to go there before and after the construction. Very striking location (even if we only saw it in soft focus in this ep).

Aside: Wallace Shawn? Oh HELLS yeah. Coke sniffing Wallace Shawn? Doubly so.

It could be argued that last season had too little real plot. I liked that actually. It could be argued that this season so far is looking like it has too MUCH plot. Too topical. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

There are a shit ton of molest-y dudes. Not that we didn’t already know this but...damn.

True. However suspension of disbelief is the least annoying thing about this show.

I’m not familiar with that show/movie but I’ll take your word for it. The entertainment industry is drowning in derivative offerings. Impossible to argue otherwise. No doubt I’ll watch at least an ep or two of this and enjoy a couple king/carpenter/spielberg/twilight zone/generic 80s references but I hope to see more

This should be worth a watch or three. Looking forward to it!

It is now possible to be first and one of the last at the same time. The AV club is a graveyard of it’s former self, slayed by the mighty kinjapocalypse.

In the latest exercise in nostalgia mongering we see a sequel to something that is itself an awkwardly self conscious meta sequel to everything! All pastiche all the time! Things getting boring....everybody dress up like the ghostbusters! Still probably kinda fun tho.
