people do realize that the way movies get financed is by placing a known star in the leading role, right?
hence casting a mexican actor in an iranian role.  the number of bankable iranian stars is not large.

getting some michael mann/tangerine dream vibes.

2 things:

but also never underestimate the public's willingness to not buy CDs of bands they supposedly are fans of (using torrents, youtube, and spotify instead)…thus completely fucking over the band.
believe me….there are more than a few musicians pining for the "bad old days" of major label domination.

yes…many layers of disgusting going on in this show.
the one with the human mushroom beds was also pretty horrible…same with the throat slashing earlier.
i find it really weird that you can show this stuff on a major network and yet sex and "the f word" is taboo.
side note: seeing a female freddy (freddie?) lounds and

truth.
he stumbled into a goldmine….and was just smart enough to realize he should milk it until somebody stopped him.

you can only so many positive things about such utter crap…especially if the previous 2 installments were also pretty much crap.

i definitely was having trouble putting the freddie lounds of manhunter/red dragon out of my head.  if you had never seen/read those it would not matter…but if you have it's annoying and cheap.

the only question i have is how many of the actors did friedkin have to slap to get them to perform?

i totally ignored this show until today…just randomly decided to check out this week's ep….that totem poll definitely almost made me barf.
doubtlessly inspired by that jail cell tableau by lector in silence of the lambs….blech.

and that's "HILARIOUS"!

i'm ashamed to say that i've seen the infamous pee drinking footage.
from what i could see the liquid in question could have been anything and she barely drank a drop of it.  basically a bunch of kids goofing for the camera.
silliness is everywhere and yet i cannot look away…..

i'd be happy to never hear of another one of these shows ever again…but it seems like in the modern age this is one of the most effective promotion paths for pop singer visibility.  does it "need" to be that way?  who knows?  the music business is in a complete flail at this point and nobody knows anything for sure.
as

well that does sound extremely annoying.
i suspect it has something to do with the pretense of the judges not judging contestants on looks or something?

possible about doing cover songs…but mercury was most definitely an attention hog…as all good arena rock stars should be and need to be to succeed.
it's all hypothetical but the music business has certainly changed since queen achieved fame and somebody of mercury's singing talent and charisma might well have ended up

definitely not saying may is insulting the contestants directly…but i find it ironic that he played with lambert because without cheesy tv talent shows he never would have heard of him.

well i've never seen the show…and never will  but i can definitely see freddy mercury doing his damned best to get those judges attention. he could be subtle for sure…but he could also be the complete opposite.  queen was the king of over the top theatrical operatic bombast. freddy was the voice and brian may was his

he makes valid points to be sure (many of which i totally agree with)…but his tone seems to dismiss the entire thing rather than trying to see things from the point of view of new artists who out of obligation must publicize themselves to survive.

brian may is obviously a super smart and talented guy and can see how cheesy these shows are….but it might have been cooler if he had highlighted a favorite singer rather than just crapping on the whole thing from his golden chariot.  It just all feels a bit disingenuous coming from one of the most successful

here's the thing tho…
