@avclub-d9909824688daaad46d441eefd81eb38:disqus ha! yep…he was pretty convincing in the role, esp when he admits he has no money.  just another failed trick attempted by the midnight cowboy….

Agreed.  He is annoying in a completely different (downbeat/cloying) way.
if i were him she would definitely irk me.  As soon as he shows a sign that he is doing ok with his band/job without her she shows up acting all weird and interested even after she broke his heart repeatedly.  Her exceptional attractiveness

she just won't stop blathering in that horrible high pitched excited squirrel chatter.  It's like she never got over smoking crack that one time.
I can stomach the rest of the cast just fine but she is just too annoying.

i honestly feel like dunham has gone out of her way to make the male characters less annoying (cept for that artist guy)…also I think hannah was just as sympathetic (at least this week) as her male counterparts.

thanks for the recommend…..

8 times in a row?
great.  i am now officially a slacker in yet another area of life.

he deserves whatever he gets.  moonrise kingdom, a mighty wind, gosford park, the Guest mocumentaries….great work all around.

i was going to say the same thing.
another interesting side note re shivers is that croneberg thought of "starliner towers" as a space ship and the deadly parasites were definitely an inspiration for Alien.
ballard and cronenberg were clearly a perfect match….although as it turns out one of cronenberg's primary traits

a master of the craft and also the only author (i think) to be adapted by both david cronenberg AND steven spielberg…and well adapted in both cases.

well this sounds pretty terrible.
guess i'll just go watch apocalypse now and blue velvet again instead…..

acceptable…although he was talking millions of copies sold..not anyone's typical situation.
also he must be annoyingly accomplished to hannah since he could be seen as killing it both writing-wise and mental health wise.

yeah but rubbing one out takes long enough that it does not seem like a similarly "tic-able" act like tapping on a surface, etc.
having never experienced OCD tho i could be totally wrong.

also: Bob frickin Balaban!  that guy rules (even if making him both a therapist AND best selling sci fi author felt a bit much).

and she has a damn passable singing voice, damn her!
(also agree about the plausibility of adam's situation re hannah).

in reference to season five of the sopranos as mentioned in this review (and i agree it was one of the best if not THE best season): yes it was very "convenient" that "the other tony" is never mentioned.  however this type of narrative device was particularly permissible on the sopranos because in the mafia when you

i have to say…OCD or no 8 times in a row is effing brutal, even for a girl.  she must be exaggerating.

it's definitely possible to be a successful sourpuss.  He seems the type.  Also when marnie was spying on him he seemed to be relatively buoyant and only really got downbeat after talking to his truly annoying ex, who after dumping him now shows up at his fancy new office flirtatiously now that he is killing it and is

some thoughts:

definitely get it.  quite a few awesome tracks on this one.  devine hammer, no aloha

wait til the band kicks in…so good.

disagree…i think the more in depth production really helped turn last splash into their finest recording.  brought out the prettiness of the doubled singing and the awesome hookiness of the choruses.  sounds awesome imo.
