this was a fun series until chia the buff showed up….ah well.

not my taste in music but skills is skills and that woman can just straight up sing.

i guess his "thing" is being really disappointing. that said i definitely liked some of the tracks from his album….he was definitely going out of his way to play the single most non intuitively "live friendly" track….not sure why.

true…forgot about that show!

favorite thing: black keys performance of lonely boy.  it kicked ass.  also enjoyed jack white's typically crazy whammy pedal/fuzz guitar solo.

agree that her choice of clothes is pretty "out"….it would seem that she attempts to fight or disavow her explicitly stated self loathing by forcing people to view her in revealing/unflattering clothes.  In other words in most entertainment (and even in real life to a certain extent) women with "less than ideal"

even on HBO i'm almost positive that full frontal male nudity is much more taboo than full frontal female nudity.  that seems to be a general rule of all non porn media.

i am NOT a Girls hater..also i agree that turn around is fair play considering all the hideous men that get cute girls on tv (from the simpsons to the sopranos the list is endless) HOWEVER at least tony soprano had the good taste to keep his damn shirt on even during sex and even on an R rated show.
seriously tho if

@avclub-f8f8c273f326be25421cc62737d24a9e:disqus that's not a bad goal either eh?  she's 2 for 2.  seriously tho i admire her moxie and have nothing against her work.

no…she did.

Dunham definitely created this show to get a chance to expose herself and make out with handsome dudes…and so i guess more power to her?

ron walking and knocking the phone to the floor with food poisoning = comic gold

i agree…it definitely felt like a visit from the clumsy and powerful plot monster.

i'm sure yr right…i don't remember.  but there's no doubt as an actress/character she kills it when she's performing as starlet rather than as sincere lucinda williams…

i just feel like the writers are pushing the characters around in a game of sloppy chess and as a result characters actions feel a bit jerky and inconsistant from ep to ep.  I agree w you that she seems most in her element when doing the full on pop tunes….seems like THAT version of the character is what the actress

kind of like Lary Sanders in that little cabin in the middle of nowhere….

i would say no.  to me he looked in this film like….schwartzman with very intense facial/head hair.

recently re-watched this after many years….a fun and heartfelt piece of work.  classic rom com/farce.

yep.

this is definitely not even close to Brewster…
