i was not really expecting anything in particular from the avengers….but by the end of it i would have been happy to never see another super hero movie again….just a completely overstuffed corny mess imo.  it's also possible that ANY movie with that many cgi enhanced super heros/villians all jammed into the narrative…

i enjoyed insomnia quite a bit….pretty strong central performance from pacino and hermetic paranoid narrative as well as a unique wintry light aesthetic…even if the ending was less than ideal.

agree TDKR was nolan's worst….however the avengers was far worse, tasteless plastic-y and overcrowded….and iron man II was only marginally better imo.

from what i have read so far (and not having seen the film) the torture is placed in the film in a slightly different way as it occurred from reality….but that no useful information is obtained by said torture which is made to look as horrifying as possible.
definitely going to see the film regardless simply as a film…
