cornell live was always a rough deal….he was often quite flat live.  now his high notes are clearly gone compared to the early stuff.  his mid register still has some cool qualities for sure.

i'm liking "bones of birds"….nice melody and changes.  the cornell scream is well past it's prime on some of the other tunes tho.

compared to most post sabbath "heavy" drop D style rock/metal bands thayil has more cool echo-y clangy textured alternately tuned feedback tinged awesomeness than the rest combined.

as someone who is still struggling to enjoy this show at all i have to say as a musician that the "actors being musicians" thing is being handled in an above average way, especially for TV.   some of the guitar playing by the actors is even pretty accurate to what you hear.
