Bungie was smart to opt out to maintain autonomy. I remember when Act and Blizz merged. Both were quite clear, if memory serves me right, that it would not affect Blizz ability to make the games they want. Seems naive in hindsight. All bizz practice is geared toward making money and modern bizz culture is still rooted

Thats just your opinion. An empirical bundle of facts.

I dont get it.

Ok like this then: Great art takes great sacrifice, sometimes. Usually when it involves an arduous task such as creating a huge videogame, like, the biggest one in the world ever. But perhaps not when drawing Keith Harring blorbs. Or wait maybe it does, since he was suicidal, who knows?

So I do think its the opposite

It is very interesting to realize how peoples morals shift when you start making money.
But if every creative just became a little better at giving credit where credit is due, maybe we wouldn’t have this problem.
I understand Ribeiro (even if I also suspect he might be greedy and would want to cash in since Forknife

Why is it always about the money with these guys? What about cultural value? Throw some fucking old school magic in there and make people happy as well as earn hefty cash! But I guess they forgot how to do it.

Good, the way they are treating the medium right now they deserve a big fat reality check.

You are aware that things evolve and become more complex thus the need for revision might be in place at some point for the laws you are mentioning? Otherwise we would still be left with...oh I dont know, did neanderthals even have laws?

Shoulda been Super Plumbus Adventure!

But are we still talking Gamebryo here or whats the deal?
The thing with engines is that it creates a framework for what you are buiding, as you’ve said. But just like the brand of brushes you use while painting affects the outcome, an engine, however fiddled with, is still the

So what DO you do? Send em cookies?

ALSO, making games is hard and not for everyone.

Thats abit daft, dont you think? The idea was for money to be unregulated by the banks. I like that idea.

Its not just entertainment for a lot of people. It has deeper meaning in thier lives, otherwise I dont think so many developers would put up with so much crunch.

Im with you!

Or we could go for “we should help each other out to get better as a collective”.

This is the fun part about society. We tend to think of emotions, or our “inner worlds” as not real. Completely forgeting that everything about our culture started with a thought. We literally conjoured ourselves out of thought. Logic-warriors are just scared because they dont understand abstract thinking.

Yeah it has alot to do with inspiration, actually. Are you involved in creative work on an intense scale enough to voice an opinion on this particular matter?
You do realize the character is novel?

Fuck this greedy approach to making games. I think we should destroy the bogus capitalist-process that is destroying youth culture.

The naive idea that inspiration is 100% novel and plucked from the void is widespread and it makes me sad.

I dont think artists (like meself) should put too much pride into “not cheating”. Everybody’s been doing it forever and it seems just now the videogame community is catching on to this fact. Flush your pride, create great art.
