RE: 5th: I think Elon is manipulating the crypto market. He has enough visibility to have tangible effects on it so when he mentions it, things happen. Whether it’s deliberate is easy to detect: watch to see what purchases and sales he/his agents make before and after his assorted utterances.

I’m well aware, but I didn’t need to get to the battery, I wanted to get the hatch open. The hatch release failed.

I like them but roll over bang roll back bang because there’s a bit of drag and you want them to engage their detents bang and why do these headlights burn out so fast bang it couldn’t possibly have anything to do with giving those hot filaments a good shake on a regular basis, could it?

I loved those. Seeing that whole broad lightbar coming down the road it felt like the Buck Rogers future we’d been promised for so long was finally arriving.

I always knew about the earlier generation of Riv because of Roadhouse, but the later ones I never saw in action. That’s a tour de force, that’s Detroit flexing because it could.

I had that same adventure with a Prius. When the hatch release failed on a Prius at work, it was a faff-and-a-half getting in there, working in the cramped confines to unearth the cable release from all the junk in the trunk. Thank goodness for YouTube, you’d think a more conscientious manufacturer would make that

That engine makes some good power and renders this tall, kinda-sorta useful wagon fairly useful when not being prodded for more go.

IIRC Mythbusters tried to do this with a car and discovered that, even with a bigass V-snowplow and its sharp leading edge to make things easier, splitting a car in half is damned near impossible under ideal conditions because the engine is a VERY tough nut to crack, even with a steel cutting edge. At 70mph an AMC

You’d think so, but you don’t need a CDL to drive that size.  He might just be a regular garden variety mook.

Whether I think it’s okay for him to be driving is a separate question, one that is predicated by the circumstances. Clearly that’s a “no,” there are underpasses near me that I won’t ttry even though I’ve seen larger trucks than mine go through them. I’m too cautious to think this is acceptable performance.

Not this time.  The light was yellow and the too-tall sign didn’t light up.  He was just under the wire for the warning system, but not under the bridge itself.

You can hear the driver stomping the brake but it seems like he just...gives up?

If I had known about this I would have commented.  My ‘98 Forester had about 366,000 when I finally traded it in.  The engine was okay and the transmission was frankly excellent, but every hose under the hood was giving up and I’d had enough of 25mpg to not want to keep it.

As soon as I saw one plane was a Cirrus I thought, ooh, they got lucky. All Cirrus models come with the CAPS system standard, the only standard equipment whole-plane parachute EGADS system certified by the FAA.  If you have to have an in-flight disaster, try to have it in a Cirrus.

$23,000 Goosebux = $19,000 Flag-emblazoned TP.

So all the traffic that normally runs over this bridge is being diverted to the Memphis-Arkansas Bridge, AKA “The Old Bridge,” which is 24 years older.

That’s a pretty good value, frankly. Really good.

Both USB and 120v powerpoints to keep the vibrators hummin’.

That’s a beautifully preserved Camry.

I had to pull up on a curb to work on the car once. My mother’s Opel GT, there is no room under there even when you’re 18 and lean as a snake, just forget it.
