This is exactly the level of offroad capability the majority of AWD purchasers actually need, and are likely to use.

If you’re going to go dumping on a pro in his own field, doing what he does for fun, I’m going to need you to raise your game one hell of a lot.

I’m thinking this is more of a moonshot, don’t-really-want-to-sell-it price.  The seller likes it and would rather keep it but if he gets the right buyer, a sufficiently large pile of simoleons would soothe the pain of its departure.

You could spill a lot of fuel onto a wooden worktable and still it would be difficult to ignite the wood.  The various oils and solvents spilled into its surface over the years might ignite, but smother that - the wet towel is an obvious solution - and the wood will be okay.

Torchin’ ski!  or Torch ‘n’ Ski!

My son calls those little warning stickers with man shapes getting wound around shafts and hacked to pieces by blades, “Dumbobs.”

Came here to say this, starred.

Just stick a Tile on it.

That’s kind of my point, in DC if you were just sticking in town and occasionally venturing out to Alexandria or College Park, this thing would be perfect. DC is dense enough and parking dear enough that a park bench on wheels like the Ami would work great.

RAV4 Prime. You want fun, you want efficient, you want a hitch - that’s it. You’re done. It’ll carry everything, go where you want to go and not break the bank keeping it fueled. Plug it in and only take short trips and it only gets cheaper.

“If you can’t find a - what did you call it? - a tracking device? Maybe you need more competent officers running the equipment, or a better supplier.

It gives me no joy to say it, though.

Yeah, I’ve heard of people doing that.  I wouldn’t want to do that.  I’d rather be 100% legit, that way the kinder, gentler government can’t confiscate my car.

This car is pointed squarely at me.

This car is pointed squarely at me.

Twingo, hell, I’d be pretty tickled to get my hands on a Panda 4X4. A first-gen from ‘01, the final year of the first-gen models so all the bugs were pretty much sorted.

Back in the day I read an article in Mother Earth News describing a homemade hybrid car, a series hybrid built out of an Opel GT whose ICE was now a repurposed lawn mower engine. The car itself was driven by an aircraft starter/generator, and there was a battery bank to make up the amps needed to move the car when

If you’re thinking it’s a bit ridiculous - and you wouldn’t be wrong - that $24/mo payment would only get you back and forth in, for instance, the DC Metro for about a week, and you would still have some walking to do. A top speed of 30mph is about fast enough in downtown DC, the silly thing parks about anywhere and

With the exception of NM, they’re all coastal (in Hawaii’s case, VERY coastal) states.  Is that a factor?

I more or less agree with you.  But “vigilante justice” AKA “road rage to the point of vehicular assault” is difficult to justify, no matter how inconvenienced you are.
