To a non-US person, the Presidential election seems primarily a referendum on the personality of the candidates. Why parties put up unsympathetic personalities is beyond my understanding. People like Romney, Kerry, Al Gore even, they came across as people you'd cross the street to avoid. Hilary has that problem also,

Yup, 50 Shades was a genuinely (if baffling) huge phenomenon. Can't imagine the follow ups are going to to the same numbers, it seems like a long time ago since all the hype around the original book. If they're shooting back to back, seems like the people involved have twigged that too.

The first (somehow, cos it looked cheap as hell) had a $40 mill budget, but took $ 166 million in the US alone. Pretty impressive actually.

There is no problem with The Matrix. If they had stopped there and then, it would be remembered as a stone cold classic & would be talked up and referenced as an influence. The sequels retrospectively ruined the originals reputation.

You mean you don't need to see Bruce Wayne's parents being gunned down every frigging Batman movie? How will Hollywood pad out films to three hours, long past the ability of normal humans to care about what's going on?
