A pilot friend of mine is a hard-partying, wingsuit-flying, base-jumping madman. He got his license privately and he used to fly for a regional airline but has been flying for the UN for a while now. I haven’t had the opportunity to hang out with him for a couple years because of his schedule.

All fine and well that he acknowledges this happened because of his own stupidity but I don’t see any mention of anyone other than himself. Driving/riding like this puts everyone else on the road at innocent risk of accident or injury (ask the pickup driver or truck driver in this video if they’re as “c’est la vie”…

Any time I encounter a video of one of these sovereign citizens interacting with cops or courts or whatever, my blood pressure goes up while I watch it (I suppose I could ignore the videos but like a disaster unfolding, it’s tough to look away).

Absolutely ND. If for no other reason than that it looks to have been regularly parked on dirt or gravel. Everything will suffer from an abundance of rust and deterioration. Look at the engine bay. That won’t even be the worst of it. The ground moisture and humidity will have seeped into everything.

The problem as is often the case when we talk about or with cyclists is that there are some people (a minority for sure) who approach this from a militant point of view. And of course, each place is a little different with its idiosyncratic issues.

Come on man. “If a cyclist gets hit by a car, they are suffering serious injures and going to the hospital at a minimum.” I’ve seen countless videos posted of cyclists getting hit by cars who get up and rage out like a lunatic, so going to the hospital at a minimum is absolutely untrue.

Every time I read stories like this, it’s always all about what everyone else needs to do to accommodate cyclists. Never is there ever a word about what cyclists need to do to build allies. I walk to and from work every day. Cycling to work, for the reasons outlined here as well as those mentioned in other comments…
