I know trailers can lie, but sign me the f up. Kamala was one of the best new additions in phase iv.

is supposed to be a show about Christoper Pike’s Enterprise

Agreed. Strange New Worlds is supposed to be a show about Christoper Pike’s Enterprise and the adventures of that crew before the characters we know and love - with the exception of Spock - took the reins.

the runtimes

You do have a point, but I saw the ending in a different light: being this Star Trek, the odds of the gas cloud NOT being alive are pretty slim, so taking your officer on their word and nuking the allegory for the “oil rig killing dolphins” is the most genre savvy thing they could’ve done

And hopefully after that, a T’Pring/ Sybok episode.

I love Ortegas, and hope we see more of her, but with Pike, there’s something incredibly heroic about not only doing his job, but keeping his optimism when he knows exactly what’s going to happen to him. He’s just a good guy, and this should be his show.

Hey Jar Jar, Orci and Kurtzman. THIS IS HOW YOU DO A YOUNGER KIRK.

Maybe if one of them you know actually went back and watched the show instead of reading wikipedia (and not bothering to look up memory alpha), and thinking of ways to get the female characters in their undies for no reason they would have understood it.

Paul Wesley’s Kirk is growing on me. He’ll never be Shatner, but he does an good take on the character, that it’s own thing and not a Shatner or a Chris Pine impression. I quite liked the exploration of Jim and Sam’s sibling relationship. As someone who has had a testy sibling relationship I get it. It’s kind of funny

I found this to be a solid, okay - but not remarkable - episode for a couple of reasons.

He chose his weirdo cult over his child. Having a child you don’t have any contact with is one of those things that very clearly indicates that someone is a piece of shit on a fundamental level.

Cruise is such an interesting star.

I think the A-Wing is a fantastic design but I personally feel like it’s only iconic when placed in context of the other fighters in the fleet. Specifically, I think it’s a great “sequel movie ship” along with the B-Wing: one’s smaller, sleeker, and faster than the X-Wing, the other’s bigger, weirder, and slower.

jeeeeeez someone likes strawmen, huh?? the provisions are literally just “if you have a Black principal actor, instead of painting a white stunt actor to match, hire a Black stunt actor.” like... girl you are being so weird hahaha

Yeah another dipshit in my replies was like “oh so they’ve gotta hire a personal stylist for every extra?”

I think she’d be the perfect person to explain how ambition works and is channeled in a useful way in Starfleet. Lean more into the ideas they spelled out in this episode: piloting is part of the core of who Ortega is but that conflicts with the desire to do and be more than just a pilot (like going on away missions).

My understanding was that the radiation was hindering one’s ability to access their memories (the memories would still form, you just couldn’t access them).

And it’s nice to see a Star Trek show willing and able to be an ensemble-driven show.

After the first three episodes (the second and third of which I ended up really enjoying) it was nice getting back to a proper ensemble episode. It felt like just the right mix of so many great tropes; like some kind of disease/affect that spreads amidst the crew making people act out of character; and god-king on an

I think what made the “Omelas” episode last season hit harder is that it was better at building up the ultimate reveal as a tone piece, and then the pay-off was excellent. The episode doesn’t give you the comfort of knowing whether that society is actually saving themselves from destruction or not, and Pike just has
