As a father, Jonathan Kent’s advice sucked and he was a selfish, paranoid, cynical, fear-mongering moron that told his son to hide his gifts and talents, to fear the reprisal of other men, and to even consider letting children die so that his secret would be safe. He never properly prepared Clark for the inevitable

The difference is an actual adult superman shouldn’t be HAVING the growing pains anymore. We’ve been seeing a super”boy” on the big screen, not a super-MAN.

That’s still rub though. The authors of Red Son, of Injustice, of Kingdom Come, of any story where Superman is “off” and try and tell you “this is the correct version of Superman. This is how he SHOULD be. This is right.” The reason those stories work so well is readers inherently know it ISN’T right. It’s about

But even those issues you mentioned explore the notion of “what would happen if we deliberately alter or explore this facet of the character”, with a very clear understanding of what makes Superman “tick” and then deliberately undermining or supporting it.

Bet you some of them are just really amazing Aunts.

It’s almost as if race is just a modern social construct and that international trade has been around for forever.

...Are you think of Peter David?

Part of me wants to think its Banner and that this version of the suit helps him contain the Hulk.

Purple costume person=Ms. Marvel.

Doesn't matter what the medium is, it's the same damned excuses every time. "There's no audience for women-led movies." "There's no money in women-centric films." Blah blah blah. You could do a Mad Libs and sub out "movies" for "comics," "literature," "music," and it would be the same damn tune, different setting.

oh snap... i need a damn babysitter! its the one movie i havent seen yet since the new babby... :( (and i will NEVER be THAT person with a BABY in the theater... no matter how much i wanna see the movie lol.... i hate that shit!)

I'll mention a TV show, because there are too few movies. If the goverment in Space: Above And Beyond had let the Silicates be independent, the Silicates as members of our society would have been there to fight the Chigs. Instead, they went and found other planets to settle and some actually fought on the side of the

And The Invisibles love you, too.

THE INVISIBLES -

I have the opposite problem. If you ask me "hey can you give an hour speech to a large crowd right now?" I would says, "sure" without a second thought. But if you ask me to go talk to a stranger one on one I would be very nervous. This extends to things like asking for help in a store or calling a company on the phone.

I would be very interested to hear if any io9 readers have stage fright, how it's affected your lives, and what you've done to deal with it.
