I don’t think it just applies to Nintendo. Someone did a “Spyro in Unreal 4" demo and it looked hideous too. To these renderers (lets not call them artists), they seem dead set on removing all whimsy and character from these games.

Always is. But once it’s released that’s it. The content is out, and I like that Nintendo respect that. Shigsy has always said Mario World was rushed, but 24 years later they still haven’t added it. They haven’t done a “HD version”. Because that’s not what they want to do, and deep down its not what we want.

Really? It’s just ugly when compared to modern Zelda titles. Like, they’ve simply increased the resolution, added some post-processing, left the textures flat but increased their res slightly, the character is jarringly out of place (the quality is much higher).

These always look so soulless. This one is no exception.

I’d strongly recommend you do some research into art direction, and customer-led marketing. Please.
