I know, I used to work at Konami in the early 90's.
I know, I used to work at Konami in the early 90's.
What’s that?
That must be a sad place to work. I worked at Konami in the early 90's and I remember a red or maybe orange corridor, but I don’t remember it looking as boring as that image. It’d be soul crushing.
Whoa there you just opened a can of worms.
You have a stand? This is just ridiculous. I can see why these things don’t catch on. Take my 3DS - all I need is the system to play games. Cheap crappy mobile games - all I need is my phone.
How does one even use those? Hold the phone up with one hand, use the controller with another? Get a friend to hold the phone for you?
Not from my experience. At least not with British studios, and the few US studios I’ve seen.
It impacts creativity, unfortunately.
I have developer friends in Japan who really dislike that “cold office” look they have. It impacts creativity.
Don’t they have high suicide numbers too? Expression is very important. When I worked at established studios I had my own office, and I tried to decorate it as much as I could (well, framed posters). But other places were against that.
I’ve been to Nintendo’s redmond studio once, and that was a while ago. It was colourful.
I thought that too! Maybe someone did. Statistically someone died in Japan just after those flowers were laid.
I wonder how many people these will kill?
Thought it might be something like that. I did a brief stint at Konami Japan about 20 years ago which was similar to that, but at least had colour.
I run a studio in the UK, used to work at Sony (UK) then Konami (Japan) in the early 90's. Mine looks nothing like that. Neither do most of the ones I visit. Maybe it’s a UK thing.
That’s a really boring looking studio.
I find this very interesting. If I speak English but don’t say where I’m from - people assume I’m American. So Yeah I’m just going to play that game but in reversal. I’ve got a bunch of people also doing it and it seems to be spreading.
Same. I’ve never played the game but as a developer myself I’m always interested in reading stories about other devs.
He runs a cafe, pretty boring really. But he did fight to be allowed to be open 24/7. Our laws about 24/7 eateries is really strange. Like, McDonalds can do it and some supermarkets. But coffee shops and bars, nope! Even if you stop serving alcohol, if you have a license to serve it then you can’t be open past 1am.
Bronies are toxic and gross. That’s all there is to it.
