I would love to believe the next President won’t quietly instruct everybody to avoid prosecuting him, but I just don’t believe they will.

He won it as he’s winning everything... it doesn’t matter what he says or what he does, he won’t be held accountable by most of the press and he won’t be held accountable by Congressional leaders (very much including Democratic leadership) and the Supreme Court.

But the real question is, would Best Buy return an iPad with a USB port full of KFC grease and a screen full of crayon drawings of Robert Muller stick figures saying No OBSTRUCTION, No collusion?

Trump keeps showing us his vile, criminal self. The people that are in his cult will never be swayed and will always bray the loudest when he habitually spews his garbage. I’m seeing other outlets already calling it a “victory lap” too— but so far, everyone is quick to point out that it’s only Trump considering this to be a victory, not that there’s any actual victory. Which is good to note (though I can’t speak for the RWNJ outlets).

When I used to hear George W. Bush speak to reporters, I always got the impression that if he were not the President, he would be coaching a high school or college softball team. For Obama, the impression was always that he would be giving an academic lecture at some university somewhere.

I hate him, but how did Trump not win this round? Mueller basically said the President is above the law. This isn’t him pissing his pants in fear, it’s him realizing that he doesn’t need to bother with any of this bullshit. He’s not terrified. He’s beligerant.

If Trump has exposed anything, it’s the weak fucking nature of the apparent laws and “norms” that govern our own government. They mean nothing.

It would be so damn gratifying to see Trump arrested when he leaves office. It’s also a little terrifying to think that, should Trump be reelected, he might not face criminal charges for another 4 years. This whole “we can’t indict a sitting president” law needs to be dropped. It’s made our democracy an absolute joke.
