I don’t get what the rush is. Until a new Zelda/Mario/Metroid/I’m sure I’m missing some is announced who needs a switch 2?

I’m saying there should be editorial cohesion from a site pretending to be something other than a blog.

i will say my most boomer gaming take is that i do not understand when or why we all agreed that ‘current player amount’ was a super important metric in whether a game is a success or not, or even why it’s even worth asking 6-12-15 months after a game came out whether it’s ‘still’ successful or not.

Funny how much of a deal this site made about Hogwarts player count dropping by much less than this after 6 months yet when its a game you don’t have a hate-on for it you say it doesn’t matter. You cant have it both ways.

I agree with the sentiment, though not necessarily because things are “too realistic”.

Take, for example, Horizon Forbidden West. It’s drop dead gorgeous, it’s also so ridiculously dense with foliage and volumetric fog and bloom and blah blah blah, stuff to make things feel more “alive” that (at times) it becomes

Doom (2016) handled this by having lights of the contrasting color to the general color palette of the environment mark paths- if I recall, they were green lights and the environments were largely red and orange. They popped extremely well, easily drawing the eye while still feeling like a natural part of the world

The unwashed reddit/tweetosphere needs to understand that THEY are not representative of the other millions who play videogames and aren’t terminally online. This kind of thing isn’t FOR THEM. The devs didn’t put that stuff in to insult your intelligence, they put it in for the normies and there are way more of them

Not super stoked for this to be honest at least as far as the combat goes. I like that learning abilities in Remake gave each character a bit of diversity, but in wanting to include both the ATB meter and MP from the original, they created a messy real-time system with two resources that manage to do the same thing

Now playing

I really hope that this time, when we stagger a boss, we can actually do something about it and not trigger a cutscene only to reset the bar. It happened on ALL the bosses, every fucking time. It was so infuriating. Completely killed the flow of combat and the feeling of doing well. In the end, I felt the combat was

I had the same question. I always err on the side of “development is freaking hard and anything that seems easy...never is” though and yeh it seems that QA guy replying to you confirms that!

I’m going to go half development issues, half marketing, as they now get a second burst of hype 3-6 months after launch, plus a surge of people firing the game up again, makes all the numbers go up, which the corpos like

As someone who works in QA, no, it is hard to implement. Especially with what carries and what doesn’t, making sure trophies properly trigger, etc...

Yeah I work for a fortune 500 company. Contract workers cost a ton of money, but they are used to make cuts like this - which instantly boosts reporting cash to shareholders. It is a horrible model and is 100% smoke and mirrors. Over-pay good workers, dont give them benefits, cut them when you need cash on some

We’re already up to like half the number of layoffs for all of 2023. What an absolutely brutal industry.

Feel bad for the people it impacts, but keep in mind that most of these 2200 were contract workers. We are seeing more and more layoffs in this industry because more and more people are entering it as contractors. When the projects are done, the contractors get the boot. It’s a silly way to do things, as you don’t

lol it was so ridiculous in FFXVI that a boss would just drop everything it took to make a sword, so then you take all that to the blacksmith to make the new sword. ...why doesn’t the boss just drop the sword? I think there was a single chest in the game that actually had a sword in it, which was memorable for that

If we’re talking about the Pokemon Company in Japan, and Pocketpair being a Japanese developer, if the Pokemon Company finds reason to pursue a copyright violation lawsuit, it’s good to note that the only way Pocketpair is getting away with it is if they can prove there were no violations at all, not even reference,

I’m getting that way with Crafting Mechanics in general. Final Fantasy 16 was a big offender for me of “why the heck can’t this just be me buying/finding a better sword?”

I’d like to not have to think about MrBeast anymore”

When I think of the PS4 I just remember the disk trading YouTube ad with the execs. That was a suplex Xbox just couldn't bounce back from until GamePass and insane acquisitions.
