So the Wonder thing is almost more alarming. I’m getting somewhere between an Ouya and a Chameleon vibe. It’s backed by (tragically failed hardware producer) Sega, (probably appropriately failed hardware producer) Atari, and... Shakira? And is an ill defined something between a smartphone and a console? It’s the NGage

It’s quite good but for whatever reason I bounced off it eventually. When I saw it on this list though I thought “oh, well that’s a perfect fit on Switch” and may try to get through it completely (whenever I manage to get my hands on a Switch).

I don’t disagree on the whole but feel there is a great deal of diversity within what I consider MY video game coverage outlets (which sound a lot like yours too). Giant Bomb has none but I love them and Jeff Gerstmann killed it in that Phil Spencer interview, Kotaku has always done pretty well in regards to diversity

How about a Metroid and Castlevania crossover where hard mode becomes a procedurally generated permadeath situation? If only to destroy current genre descriptions forever.

You’re not wrong of course and as someone who lives in a small mountain town where bears are a part of daily life and laws (mostly relating to trash cans) I sympathize. But the ship has sailed for Stepan, he’s already domesticated and lives with humans, there’s kind of no going back at this point.

That’s a shame and sounds a lot like how I reacted to Child of Light; charm doesn’t necessarily equal heart and I bounced off it. I may still give Rime a shot eventually.

I think the idea of focusing on the player’s wellbeing is well said and no one should realistically stop because of the unforeseen. Other comments I’m seeing indicate they eventually stopped play for this (I think it was Vornal down in the comments a bit, sorry I don’t know how to link that on Kinja) and the parallels

I don’t disagree entirely with the play to win mentality but to disregard lag in competitive esports play as “not anything like an injury” seems odd. If anything it feels more honest than what we see in traditional competitive sports: you can’t bleed the clock, game a penalty call, or stop play for the sake of

Awww, no Super Ghouls n’ Ghosts? I’d love a little Metal Warriors and UN Squadron too. Oh, and “Toootal Carnaaage!” would fit. My personal list probably just skips SFII (we’ve had lots of those), Gradius III (I prefer UN Squadron), and a couple Kirby games but that’s me. P.S. Actraiser is an impressive pick!

I hope so! RNG glitches have a way of going poorly at GDQs though... makes me anxious but even more excited to watch.

It was a different time then... I actually remember my parents not letting me play FF until III (VI) for this exact reason. Or D&D so we played Robotech. They’re cool now and it was a great childhood, I hold no animosity.

That’s true but given Mr. Shreier’s track record and confidence level it’s basically confirmed? He’s been saying “yes, PC for sure” for about a year now and his sources magically pan out basically every time. If you told me Bungie wasn’t going to make a PC version but then Jason Shreier reported they were so they did,

Super bummed about this one. Everything about the game screams “Mass Effect” but... it’s like listening to an old favorite band that never updated their sound.

The term “sandbox” has been said about lots of games by now; this game feels like the term is finally fully realized. It’s just pure play in a space.

Also Claymation, not a fighting game, and super weird: Skullmonkeys!

I still have a copy of the first two episodes of Iria on VHS.

Holy crap, I had that book too. And some Mega Man one, maybe 4?

Considering alcoholism counts as a disability now I’m guessing this one definitely goes to court.

In my mind the weirdest bit of this is Kimmel saying “I think you guys should keep it anyway.” Probably just trying to wrap up a live show but still... what the hell?

Now playing

They seem to be making a very Supergiant pseudo-sports game:
