Squaresoft games were expensive in the SNES days... I saved for months to buy Final Fantasy III (now VI) and Secret of Mana and they were both $80.

Oh how I wish there were just more Bloodborne... Souls is great! But I want transforming weapons, gun parries, and a quickstep dodge all the time now.

I don’t really follow it either but I have to hand it to LoL... that’s how a sports season should work. As an outsider it seems to be extremely well organized with these teams playing competitively for tournament seeding and then culminating in the top 16 squaring off in the big tournament. Smart if you’re a fan,

As someone who has played entirely too much Destiny, regardless of whether it’s a truly “competitive” game, I know this to be true. Back in the House of Wolves era Thorn rose to power and stayed there for a good six-ish months. It was painfully boring and Bungie’s only real response was “everything will have a period

Deademption (Read: Dead Redemption)

I love me some Soulsborne but unless From has done something with their servers this feels... optimistic to me.

I’m just bummed this guys name isn’t MathsterChief.

Open worlds. I spent too much time learning that fun happens when I hold left or right, I don’t feel like holding forward to go find it. I’ll take a carefully crafted funbox over a sandbox any day.

Two things: I think we need to seriously consider reintroducing phrasing. And. AND!

I’m kind of wondering if they are hinting at the whole Fifth Amendment right to not self-incriminate... Which is sort of damning in its own way. I suspect they are just saying “no because constitution” but who knows, it’s an ugly mess.

I’d like to nominate Street Fighter II and Final Fantasy III (technically VI but my SNES cartridge says III so... whichever numeral you prefer).

Seeing your response made me re-read what you first wrote:

That's called confirmation bias and it's a dangerous line of thinking that is frustratingly built into our psyche. Totally get where you're coming from because that's how our brains are wired but... Personal experience must always come first. You're talking about judging a book by its back-cover and while I may be a

Can't tell you how happy I am you laughed! Genuinely meant no disrespect, just got carried away with a simile.

I’m at a loss for words here. The let down was not real. It never really happened for you. You imagined a game in your head then never played the game you hoped someone else had actually created and you’re sad that the real game you never experienced didn’t live up to the experience you had hoped for? That’s like

Who doesn’t love a facsimile machine? Even in the U.S. I’ve encountered plenty of times people only want to deal with (usually) legal concerns via facsimile. It’s the best and not at all like trying to send a telegraph in the modern era. Full stop.

I want to like his work because I like his public persona but... Hideo Kojima. His games never feel mechanically solid to me and seem to get lost in a film-school level narrative. Is it his passion for the craft that should encourage me to dive deeper or am I simply never going to understand if it hasn't clicked

I would point to Dark Souls 3 as a “botched release” although only the more fervent community members were affected by it really. Doom recently did a similar Day 1 embargo thing and people were terrified it was because the game was garbage, turns out it was great and the devs just wanted everyone playing the same game

How satisfying must it be to type out the phrase “pooping valuable resources” non-ironically in patch notes for a labor of love project that's been scrutinized this closely for years? Gotta be cathartic.

The look on Widowmaker’s face is perfect. She looks like she knows she’s a bad tattoo.
