She was intubated to prevent her airway from swelling completely shut. If she wasn’t intubated in time, her airway would have closed = she would have died. The intervention saved her life. She’s not exaggerating about almost dying.

We don’t all take this oath. I graduated and became a nurse last year, and I was never required or invited to take such an oath. Perhaps religious schools might do this?
