There are probably more than 24 people who are home sick from work on any given day, right? I’m convinced that’s the only reason the show is still on, people who are sick on their couch without enough strength to find the remote.

I come from work to find my parents watching The Steve Harvey Show. I think they only watch it because it comes on after Jerry Springer (which they love) and before How I met Your Mother reruns (which they love).

Dump looks like he has no idea where he is but was promised cookies, Harvey like he was recently kidnapped and forced to his side.

Most of the joy I had while watching SNL last night was how furious it would make that cretin.

At the tender age of 33 I started cooking “for real” & now I love it! I started super simple & realized that I was going to make mistakes which is part of it. Good knives for chopping make a huge difference. I also cooked with friends who know what they are doing because I definitely learn by watching.

Mark Bittman’s How To Cook Everything is the best cookbook for starting out! He makes lists of basic equipment and staples to keep on hand so you can always throw something together, and none of his recipes are too intimidating or complex.

Cooking is fun. One can work from recipes. Once one gets some practice under one’s belt, one can invent dishes without recipes. The occasional mistake is more than outweighed by successes. Yum!

it just takes some practice and self-confidence. i used to fuck up pasta and rice and chicken. i recommend melissa clark and mark bittman for easy recipes. their food is delicious but straightforward.
