Even with that I want it, I got it” mentality, it still feels like a waste. If you like a character design so much dunno buy merch? you could even commision something custom made. Seriously, it’s terribly inneficient to spend 90k on a phone game when you could use that money to cover your entire house with figures

Thats a really stupid take given that this generation has barely started. PS5 has more and better exclusives, but Gamepass is significantly better. So no one has won anything. Its just 2 companies doing this differently for 2 different consumer types.

I agree with you but the problem is, we are the minority. The majority of people that buy games and who these companies make money off of, are the people that buy 2-3 games a year max. The people that will only buy an Assassin’s Creed or Call of Duty but put 500 hours into it and spend more money on microtransactions.

I’ve started playing Mass Effect Legendary Edition and am in the middle of ME2 right now. I played the original versions way back when, so it was nice to revisit the series and remember what made them great.

If you’re interested, you should take a look at the free game data from the Apple vs Epic trial, where they also break down how many downloads Epic got per game.

It’s simplistic but probably would be closer to the truth than you think. A good project lead who knows how to coordinate multiple different teams and handle competing desires on a single project is often invaluable and Kaplan was definitely one of those from all accounts.

I feel horribly for the OW team itself still, but good lord...was Kaplan really the glue holding it all together? I know it’s likely more complicated than that and it’s extremely rare one person has that much influence on a project worked on by hundreds but like...damn man.

Part of me wishes the best for the poor OW team that we know has been yanked in a million directions and dealt with a lot of trash, especially over the past few years...

I worked for McDonalds for 7 years as a store manager, yeah; its absolute garbage pay for a garbage job. 10/1 beef only takes fucking 13 seconds to cook, and you literally throw buns in a toaster, squirt ketchup, mustard, fake onions, a pickle, maybe some cheese, wrap it and send it to the front.

It ain’t fucking

When someone dies pretty much all reporters hold back the names and identifying details until all the families have been informed. If that weren’t the case, you’d be constantly hearing “my wife was killed and I found out on Twitter” and things like that.

it’s a well-constructed rpg with gorgeous art and a living city.

And if those new characters just happened to start their time in the game “unbalanced” and “over-powered”, well, that’s just the game’s development cycle, and certainly not incentivizing the paid battle pass via a backdoor pay to win mechanic.

i get the urge to be respectful but it is possible in the year of our lord 2022 that we can have 2 things that don’t affect eachother in slightest. if anything, i think games can be a valuable distraction to people in a time of mourning or turmoil. Just my thoughts.

The reason this feature only exists in mobile games is because of how silly it is. It’s ridiculous that to solve the issue the best solution the game can offer is to just let it grind itself automatically without you.

Sure, except the goal of exclusivity isn’t to maximize revenue from the exclusive game. If that was the goal, they would make it multiplatform instead. No, the goal of exclusivity is user acquisition for the platform that owns the exclusive. MS wants to sell more Xboxes and it wants more people paying for XBLG and

It’s not gatekeeping to say “I would prefer an experience custom built by the game’s director.” It is gatekeeping to say “Developers who had difficulty settings are making a mistake.”

There’s a huge gulf between “I like X” and “people who don’t like X aren’t real gamers”

They literally said the word “Personally”,

I get some people feel having a difficulty choice is to their liking. But do keep in mind, it’s a matter of personal preference. We all played games with and without difficulty option, and we can’t say it’s better with/without that option, and all games should / shouldn’t have the option, because the option itself

I definitly think this is being blown out of proportion. The fact is the QA testing is a lot of long tedious work and any way to reduce the need for human beings to do tedious work is a good thing. The important thing is that every automation brings about new positions that are more fulfilling. If an AI can spend the

i think the description of parasocial relationship stuff as a ‘symptom, not the cause’ makes a lot of sense. but i think it’s also worth recognizing that this symptom is essentially an attempted *treatment* to the core problem, and arguably feeds back into the problem itself. i think it’s a big point of concern for
