Since AI advancement is an inevitability at this point, I am choosing to support the option that will have the highest likely probability of positive impact for humanity. I also support developing and implementing an AI regulatory framework. I may be naive, but so is thinking that the world will cease AI development.

Altman is complex. There are things I like about him (he’s a vegetarian, he is a proponent of Universal Basic Income) and things I don’t (he doesn’t seem to have much humility, but at least he is introspective).

Humans already do a fine job of spreading misinformation. AI may amplify their efforts, but it may also be utilized to combat misinformation. Like any other technology it is how we choose to use it that is determinative.
Potentially: global climate change, political polarization, nuclear arms, cancer, heart disease, parkinson’s disease, alzheimers, resource depletion, starvation, income inequality, racial discrimination, gender discrimination, just to name a few off the top of my head.
I haven’t seen Babylon, but it sounds entirely accurate.
