I agree with this. It’s irritated me for a long time that white women often use “as a white woman” or “fellow white women” to imply that white women’s voices should be afforded more weight than other voices. If I never see, “as a white woman” again, it won’t be too soon.

As a Gen X-er (who was a teen in this time period), I remember this era of late 80s film well. And I remember the cast of Ghostbusters on with either Phil Donahue or Oprah when the sequel came out (in 1989) saying that yes, most of them had just become parents and that’s why baby Oscar plays such a prominent role in Gh

Lauren Conrad has a successful line with Kohl’s and written several books on the New York Times bestseller list. Just because she hasn’t been on reality tv doesn’t mean she’s “sunk into mediocrity.”

The thing is, they took the situation to arbitration and Dushku was awarded $9.5 million in a settlement because of Weatherly’s actions. They have video that shows she was subjected to harassment. It was more than just a few dumb jokes.

I agree he is a fine actor, though I am actually not sure if he should have been a bigger star. He’s a very good character actor and character actor’s usually aren’t the biggest stars

Ha! If I remember correctly, Cameron told Robert Patrick to watch videos of either hawks or eagles to see how they stalk their prey. So yeah.

Yeah, I’m suspicious that it was ever meant to be a twist. I can remember when it first came out and first of all, there wasn’t the same obsession with twists as there are now. Secondly, Arnold was a big action star when Terminator 2 came out, and there was not a question that he was going to be the good guy in his

As has been noted, the French government actually owns the site, not the Church. No doubt the Catholic Church in France will contribute to reconstruction but it’s not their sole decision.

True. Though Nene did say something last night about Porsha not being supportive of the other women, so just because Porsha hasn’t been in Nene’s crosshairs beforehand doesn’t mean she won’t be in the future.

I generally agree, though I think that the challenge for someone like Cynthia is once you ARE in that kind of “friendship,” what do you do about it? In other words, as you say, Kandi recognized early on it wasn’t worth it, and so has never pretended to be anything more than civil acquaintances. So Nene doesn’t expect

No, no, NO! There are plenty of gay priests who AREN’T abusers and to suggest that “repression” is at the root of sexual abuse is to let predators off the hook. Abusive priests were abusive not because they were “repressing” their sexuality. They were abusive because their sexuality is expressed through abuse. It’s

There are many, many, MANY closeted individuals who have never abused anyone. Singer’s and Spacey’s abuse has zero to do with the fact that they were allegedly closeted (which I don’t think is even accurate in Singer’s case). It was to do with the fact that they were predators.

Just FYI, both Marshall’s and TJ Maxx are owned by the TJX Companies.

I am sorry but what? Survivors of clergy sexual abuse are not nameless nor faceless nor anonymous. They have courageously come forward and, in fact, an entire Oscar-winning movie was made that featured the experience of three of them (Phil Saviano, Joe Crowley, and Patrick McSorley, all of whom are or were real people

Yes, and both the Tablet and the Forward come from a long-standing tradition of the Jewish press.  There is nothing wrong or biased in indicating that they are specifically providing a Jewish perspective because that is part of their mission as media outlets (just as historically black media outlets provide an African

Agreed. There are clearly a lot of complicated dynamics at play and this summary is very even handed in describing all of them.

I don’t think it is that uncommon to hold an event at the National Archives - I organized one when I was working in DC almost 20 years ago.

There it is, the most ridiculous “I hate Boston teams” hot takes imaginable.

It’s a valid concern. But I just think that the lead that the Yeses have, particularly in this year, will make it really difficult for those groups to do a last minute Hail Mary. I hope that, anyway.

It is bullshit. One, it plays into incorrect stereotypes about lay Catholics and their support of LGBT rights. (Again, look it up). Two, it conflates lay Catholics with the institutional Church. And three, it is allowing those people to use the church to cover for their own bigotry.
