No, sorry I didn’t prove your point.
You just accidentally proved that you don’t know how averages work.

But everyone would get to their destinations even faster if everyone just walked up or down both sides of the escalator.
And the people who want to walk will get there slower.
Why did it say that name!?!?!?
If you’ve ever actually ridden London escalators for the Tube, you’ll realize that the left walking lane is often open even when huge volumes of people are waiting for the escalator. Because most people choose to wait & stand. That’s why the capacity goes up.
...or at the very least should not be capable of generating revenue. There is no way this is an isolated case.

I have a new article for them, “Put your work clothes on first before you take a shower.” The article will start with, “less area to cover when you have to clean yourself. Shower just takes 30 seconds, instead of the 5+ minutes. Your clothes will be mostly dry by the time you get to work.”
Yeah, the authors of this study clearly don’t understand the “throughput vs latency” relationship. An apropos analogy would be watching movies at home. The standers on the right are people who order BluRays from Amazon while the people walking on the left are NetFlix streamers. While it is technically true that…
Did you guys have an editorial meeting and decided to write a pile of “Take a Undefendable Yet Firm Position on a Trivial Matter That Will Drive People to the Comments to Argue” articles? This it least the third in the series after “This Is the Proper Etiquette for Leaving a Hotel Room” and “Stop Burying Your Pets in…
I got three sentences in and thought “this applies to the exit escalators at World Trade Center and nowhere else in the world”. What a waste of bandwidth to load this “article”.
Standing may increase throughput, but it increases latency. It’s still faster on the individual level to walk up, and having that open lane for walkers allows them to have that maximum speed. You are encouraging people to restrict the ability for anyone to choose to move faster, in order to increase overall…
“It turns out that the huge amount of space that escalator-walkers need cancels out all the time they gain by walking. “
I wish this joke would get old, but Google keeps fueling it.
the golden question is, will it run crysis?
lets wait to see how its implemented before we start singing their praises. there are a lot of things they could still do wrong. we dont know how stadia is going to work for consumers, how its paid for, how stable the experience will be, etc. lots that still has yet to be seen.
“There were curses that were blanked out...Do I have to sit with my kids and explain to them what’s going on?”
Yes, it’s called being a parent you stupid fuck.
This movie was a staple of 80's cable and made me the geek I am today.
Just go to the laundromat. Much bigger, heavier duty machines that can take the weight and cut the time way down. And if you break the machine, it's not yours.
