I realize this is a guest post but it is (it's) certainly not the first time I've had to see the wrong its/it's used on Jezebel! Y'all are a bunch of smart ladies. Use the correct its!!

I don't live with my boyfriend, so when we stay at each other's places we wind up using each other's products: shampoo, lotion, moisturizer and sometimes even deodorant. It's absolutely a cop out. That suggests that a significant portion of blog users/readers/commenters want to participate in horrific, harassing behavior. I don't believe this is the case. Blocking the IPs of excessive offenders would simply rid the communities of these parasites. It would, in fact, encourage discourse

Why not Disqus? "The community of communities" is my favorite comment medium.
