You have utterly failed to grasp my point if you believe I have helped to make yours.
Fuck off.
I’m angry actually. 89 stars so far for a comment that basically says there’s no such thing as misogynoir or hijabphobia, never mind the total erasure of complicity across gender in race all throughout American history, because “sexism = racism x2" - and that wealthy White women can be victims of that?
I definitely agree with that, and again, I’m not denying the fact that a great many women are themselves misogynists. But in this particular context (Trump v. Hillary) I see much more reason to think racism was the defining issue. Trump didn’t really campaign on upholding traditional gender norms, but he quite…
In Michigan severl thoussand people voted in Detroit but for some strange reason didn’t vote for the President. It wasn’t even a year for the governor’s election. Some shady shit went down in Michigan.
I suspect that for many (most?) white women who voted for Trump, race was the primary factor, not misogyny. Not to say they aren’t misogynists as well as racists, but I think they would have been happy to vote for a woman over a man, so long as that woman also promised to uphold their sense of racial superiority.
It is not really my intention to get wrapped up in arguments over why White women voted for Donald Trump, just that some reflection be made on how race and gender work in America. It’s not a competition where ‘gender discrimination = racism x2.’
White women are complicit, willing, happy participants (in a way that no non-Whites of any gender - barring upper class Cuban and East Asian people can be) in the structural racism that this country is founded on, a far deeper foundation than anything related to sexism.
Sorry, Bernie Bro. Sanders would have lost by a landslide. But good try!
Jezebel is apparently trying to be Splinter’s “Cool Girl” now.
Hillary cares about this country—that’s why she ran. She knows her running is not going to help the country right now, so she chooses to contribute in other ways. Bernie does not care about the country, only enriching himself. He knows he won’t win, but knows it will raise his profile/get him reelection money and he…
Serious side eye on this point when 53% of White women voted for Trump.
People come here for a break from misogyny.
I’ll never forget during the week after the election hearing from a coworker that she just thought the presidency was meant to be a man’s job. She thought a woman probably could do the job, but didn’t think a woman should be president unless there was no better alternative (to her credit, she did recognize that Trump…
There are a few million girls in the US who know nothing other than that it is perfectly normal to have a woman winning a major party’s nomination and running for President.

What the fuck is this post?
When did jezebel start hating women so hard?
She sure does. She never said she was going to run and now that she’s finally official said “I’m not running” they’re still giving her shit about it. But also salivating over Bernie. SMH
