VAAAAANJIE.
Based on tonight’s challenge, I just can’t see growth in the talent competition for Kameron. Multiple mentions were made of extensive direction to try and amp up Kameron’s performance. It’s hard to take Carson and Michelle’s judges’ critique comment that they gave it twenty tries literal confidence. But it’s clear…
By large, drag prefers clubbier, dancier, poppier tracks, certainly. But this show has given great stead to there being a deep catalogue of unexpected pulls from country, jazz, rock, folk, soul, and beyond.
Where she lost it for me was calling out Aquaria having a reaction. I’m certainly sensitive to Vixen recognizing the optics of those racial dynamics. But her aggressive demeanor has an absolute stop when she’s telling people to have or not have certain feelings or reactions.
It was a whole vogue back in that timeframe. Think Terry Richardson, American Apparel, Fiona Apple’s Criminal.
At the mainstage, Ru sounded like she had the cold of the century. I’m going out on a limb and guessing the mainstage, they could mic her out the ass to at least capture that congested voice. But maybe in the workroom, it just wasn’t coming through.
I certainly wouldn’t rate Yuhua’s high, at all. But for my money, Dusty’s just made less sense all around, even for her avant-kook-clown aesthetic.
Sorry I missed y’alls last week. But here, have a serving of Random ‘pinions:
Grey dress, roger. I’m pretty sure that’s Porkchop.
Old format Untucked still included among that low-percentage drama, some pretty organic tension and conflict.
The young, naive ingenue thing is certainly a known quantity for this competition. It’s hard not to clock the resemblance to Farrah Moan, though, minus the actual moans, mind you (well, so far). As for ‘Leave it to Boydrag’, I expect he could make some cute trade in a few years’ time. And puberty.
It’s possible you’re referring to Jaymes Mansfield, Delta Work, or Victoria Porkchop Parker?
After Shangela in AS3?
“Historic”.
There are segments of the male gay community that can be more body-positive, and others, certainly less.
Now that you mention it, with the exception of Dusty’s hat, I’m having trouble thinking of anyone else’s that came off more costume than fashionne.
I think Dan has it - that’s Pandora.
That reunion moment was probably the one thing she showed of spine and nerve all season long.
You know I wasn’t referring to you, luv. Cummon, now.
It’s telling that Kameron seems to be getting the thirst trap - from the neck up, it’s not lighting up anyone’s Tiger Beat with that.
