Chubsyuby responded to my post with some footage of what happens when these things go wrong. Again, in the case of the video in the main story, the use of police dogs was likely the right course of action...but watching the gruesome video in what Shubsyuby shared demonstrated the point that I was trying to make.…
Thank you. This is exactly the point that I was trying to make. Wow, that was horribly gruesome.
Kind of. The harm that police dogs to is ridiculous. In this case, this person needed to be stopped, and using a dog was most likely warranted. But in many cases, permanently maiming someone is overkill. (Feel free to disregard this link due to being Huffington Post - I’ve seen another article from a more reputable…
Oh wow! Yeah, I’m not sure that CF motorcycles are for me :)
I’ve always wondered about CF bike wheels. I’ve had pretty good luck fixing small bends in aluminum alloy MTB wheels with a rag and channel lock pliers (I didn’t bother with heat, and I wouldn’t even bother trying to weld bike wheels).
I’ve never dented carbon fiber. Cracked for sure, but never dented. I’m not totally sure, but I’d bet that it is more resistant to damage than stamped steel or aluminum.
It’s your prerogative to read into my words whatever you choose - I have no ability to make you interpret my words as intended. However, I never made any statement like this. In fact, I even used bold letters to help people avoid any confusion in their interpretation of my statement. I’m not sure if you missed this: (“…
You have forgot the hardships of the people who took these loans
Agreed - there certainly are minimum security facilities. They’re easier to live in than higher security facilities (and they exist for a reason, maximum custody units are extremely expensive to operate). However, even the lowest security facility is a terrible place to live. Even release centers (halfway houses) are…
Oh, I don’t disagree that there is a difference between custody levels. However, there is still no such thing as a “country-club prison”. They’re all terrible places. Further, I did not advocate that Scott is undeserving of justice. My comment was a reaction to the tough talk suggesting vigilante justice inside the…
Did you even read my post? If so, your response is completely obtuse. I never suggested that incarceration was not warranted. What I said was that over a decade was a very serious punishment, and advocating for vigilante justice inside of the prison walls is morally wrong.
Have you ever been to a prison in your life? Like I said, I’ve been to over 100. While some places are less hard than others, I stand by my statement that there is no such thing as a country-club prison. Your examples of prisons with offsite work programs and some recreational facilities mean nothing without…
The fact that you mention parole suggests that you didn’t actually read my post. There is no parole in federal prison. You really have no idea what life is like in prison. I suggest visiting a prison someday, you may learn something.
I’ve been to that facility. I appreciate that your comment wasn’t totally knee-jerk. Indeed, he’s a total jerk - I was not trying to play down his actions either.
Both of your posts strike me as a bit misdirected. On one hand, you’re wishing some sort of vigilantee justice inside of prison upon this man (which is morally wrong, in my opinion). On the other, you’re buying into the idea of a “country club” prison, where just being in prison isn’t sufficient punishment for an…
I totally agree. The funny thing about carbon fiber trim is that race cars don’t have any interior trim. Trim is pointless weight. Sure, some race cars may have some interior parts made from carbon fiber - but I’ve always felt that carbon fiber trim (or worse, faux carbon fiber trim) is silly.
I was going to suggest that their photographer’s light meter may have been broken...or set to shoot the background rather than the subject.
