997 race car :)
...not to mention the ridiculous amount of orange peel in the paint. Maybe modern car build quality and reliability is miles ahead of older cars, but paint quality has gone out the window.
I’ve always liked the simplicity of BMW interiors, but as far as the carbon trim goes, what is sporty about it? That it’s strong and light? Why does interior trim in a heavy car need to do this? Why not wood or brushed aluminum?
I think that it’s identical in shape to the CF piece.
Pointless carbon fiber trim is a pet peeve of mine. It’s freaking 2016 - carbon fiber is no longer whiz-bang new, and there is little reason for this now. At 3600 Lb, this car isn’t exactly a lightweight, and is nicely appointed with heavy stuff like sound deadening to make it a great grand touring car. Maybe it’s…
I’ve liked certain audacious designs, like the Veloster.
I came here to post this and am incredibly satisfied to find that it’s the first post. I too feel like that design is unnecessarily complex and swoopy.
It appears that during reviews, sometimes windshields are cleverly blurred in exterior shots to mask who is actually driving - especially while the drivers are carrying massive oversteer through a corner. Was this almost always a cut to your driving? Are some of the presenters better drivers than others?
lol
Torch...this is just creepy. I had that song stuck in my head all day yesterday.
Again, communication seems to be failing. This is not about legal terms. It’s about the GPP who said that a 996 was a better deal because of the condition of the motor - which I agree with. You’re suggestion that it’s legal term is you again being hung up in semantics and not in value. It’s irrelevant. You’re not…
...which completely validates the original post. You’re hung up on semantics without regard for meaning.
It’s clear that we both read the listing, but we’re deriving different meanings from this. Let me try to lay it out in the simplest terms.
Nobody is putting words in anyone’s mouth. The original poster sent a link to the value of a 996. It’s actually less than the cost of having a professional assemble the parts of the 2.7 in the listing (not to mention everything else that it would take to make this car drive-able). You’re still hung up on the semantics…
You’d be right if this were a different 911 (say an early S or RS). However, the market for middle-years cars is probably the weakest of all air cooled 911's (and it always has been). Few (if any) collectors are looking for middle years cars with matching numbers (and the ad doesn’t necessarily state whether or not…
And for all of the reasons that I just wrote for you, it’s basically the same as coming without a motor. Did you even bother?
