What power plant does it use?
Makes sense. Thanks :)
I don’t know if I agree. The Boxster and Cayman are on their own platform. The base model can be quite fun and is pretty damn fast. The Porsches don’t share a platform with better performing cars for significantly less money ($37-42.5k), either.
The oh-so-classy New York Post dubbed this guy the Bowel Movement Bandit. Akron, OH police are still unable to find this man who could be charged with criminal mischief. Jalop story here.
So...what’s the point of this car then? Is it for people who want a certain appearance package with basically A3 performance? I mean, it does look really sharp.
A fair point. You’re probably right in that there is likely a market for it somewhere (e.g. scissor doors on Honda Civics). It would be an interesting experiment to see if it sold. My guess is that it would be a neat party trick to sell a some extrs cars at launch...but once it became ubiquitous, I think that it would…
4k? You must mean with your video card that cost around $700 ;)
You sound pretty bitter. Why?
The ‘89 turbo was the only 930 to come from the factory with a 5-speed. I believe that the 993’s and 964’s were 6-speeds.
My understand is that IMS bearing issue does not go away after surviving for a certain number of miles. However, there are retrofit fixes to prevent a problem. The parts cost is around $1000, and the fix it easy (but involves dropping the transmission).
Porsche was not part of the VW group at the time.
Yes.
This has been up on ebay for years. It’s been discussed at length on the Pelican Porsche Forums and the consensus has always been that this guy is dreaming.
Oh yeah...that’s a conversion alright (and not a very good one). This is a ‘77 911, and the factory didn’t offer a Flachbau option until the ‘81...and only on the turbos. This example has the original 5-blade engine fan, which suggests that much of the bad emissions stuff from the 70’s that made those middle-years…
