Tesla really rushed these trucks out, what a nightmare.”

It’s funny, because GM was basically the first that started to hybrid-ize “normal” vehicles. Remember the hybrid Silverado, Tahoe and Malibu? Those things came out in like 2004, 20 fuckin’ years ago.

I’m the owner of two EVs (we have zero gasoline in the house), and all of your criticisms are valid. My only counter would to be to also account for some other variables/benefits of EV ownership (although they are admittedly smaller). Examples: EVs require significantly less maintenance. EVs can be turned “on” in a

Couldn’t agree with you more on the acceleration. I’m terrified of every soccer mom driving an SUV / CUV that can do 0-60 in 4 seconds while she’s facing the rear seat screaming at Grayson, Jayden, Kayden, and Fayden. We really need to return to a time when purpose built sports cars were the only terrifyingly fast

Late C3 Corvettes - fantastic looking hot garbage. Built in decent numbers, so you likely won’t get too much pushback on improving a few.

You know who should buy this, is someone who already has one. Put a tarp over it and save it for when your daily needs bits.

I’d argue that anyone that CANNOT pass a TS/SCI Clearance investigation not be allowed to run for ANY Federal office.

I would vote today for a constitutional amendment that would ban any person from holding an elected or appointed office if they say anything resembling the idea that there will be violence and death if they don’t get what they want.

If Trump utters sounds they are probably ( most certainly ) very stupid ideas.

100% this.

HVAC (including heated seats / steering wheel), turn signals, wipers and frequently used stereo controls should ALWAYS be physical buttons. Any items that drivers interact with on a regular basis should be physical buttons / stalks. It’s like we want to move to everything automated / touch-based, but then realize that

Not going to lie it took quite a while before I realised that it wasn’t in fact a face lift Fiat 124 when I first saw a picture of it.

“Yeah, my truck only gets 1/3 of the advertised range. But that’s only because of the weather. And my driving at highway speeds. Sure, the infotainment screen stopped working for multiple hours on end. But it finally worked again! And these things weren’t made for the current infrastructure because of the cables being

Even with EV’s that have resistive cabin heating get near instant heat. Don’t most of them have the capabilities to remote “start” them and thus start warming the cabin, all while still pulling power from the grid instead of the battery?

Which is another advantage to home charging, even if you park outside.  Your EV can use grid power to keep the pack temp above freezing and in cars with a heat pump and heat scavenging, you’ll get instant heat in the cabin as its using heat stored in the pack to augment interior climate.

While they may have aced the AWD and Turbo classes, they slept right through the Head Gasket Engineering classes and handed in an origami throwing star for the final project.

This. I have an EV and live in Chicago. I don’t know why anyone would ever buy one of these if they didn’t have a home charging solution. Maybe if they worked somewhere with charging I can see it, but I’d have a backup gas car at home for situations like this.

To be fair, even ICE vehicles have been struggling in this weather. The neighbor’s kids have to keep their cars in the driveway and this morning they barely cranked over.

Although they *did* eventually crank over.

I dd my tesla y. Never charged above 80%, never fast charged, restrict my charge rate to 15A, use precondition before drive. Barely see any impact on range.

EV school busses seem to be a very good use of EV technology. Known route lengths. Known payload capacity. Nightly plug in times. Set locations for plug ins. Not making children breath diesel smoke. Lower maintenance.
