Same with G35

Anything with a CVT.

If you want to be environmentally friendly as possible, don’t buy a hybrid, or an electric, or even a car for that matter.

It has some sort of trick transmission that can take input from both (essentially). But you’re right, in general, the Volt (and i3) run as series hybrids. They’re pulling power from the battery at varying rates, and the engine is just running at a constant speed filling the battery back up.

GM doesn’t really make anything that interests me right now, but the Volt is a really good car. Bullshit.
