If this is the new norm, great! The top 9 judges in this country SHOULD be held to highest of standards. They SHOULD be perfect. Their records SHOULD be beyond reproach. This isn’t too much to ask for.

So imagine what that would do with modern lithium ion technology and mass produced motor/controllers and an optimized chassis?

This car - of any car - should be electric.  No one will EVER drive this for more than about 50 miles at a shot (unless they’re trying to prove something), so why not pack it with batteries and an electric motor on the rear wheel?  I can’t possibly be the only person thinking this.

Sure - you love it *now*.  But in 10 years when you can afford this car, you will not buy it in matte because it will make everyone know you are driving a 10 year old luxury car with 120,000 miles on the clock, whereas someone with normal paint can fly under the radar.

It’s only cool because you’re feeling nostalgic about it.  I mean, do you have a teal car?  And if you don’t, do you actually want one?  I can assure you, most people outside of Jalops would *not*

I like a lot of what I see here.  But I feel like we will all look back in sadness on this era of matte finishes on cars.  They will not age well.  Like teal from the 90s.

Dudes probably thought it was a vagina.

#UNGA is the sound I made when I watched this.

Agree. I drive a Volt and it checks so many boxes for me. But when the funds allow, I won’t be getting rid of the practicality of the Volt, I’ll be *adding* a sports car. At the prices we’re talking about, I think many people would rather have a toy be a toy. The first gen Volt is a nifty little secret of the car

Hot Take: Tesla’s designs aren’t the best. The Model S was a great start for sure - what does the next generation look like (it’s over 6 years old!)? The Model X has bad proportions and looks weird. The Model 3 is OK, but doesn’t have the same head-turn factor of the Model S. Frankly, I saw a Karma Revero last week

Having sold TWO Corvairs and a Mercury Cougar XR-7, my dad elected to buy my mom (in 1979 when I was born) a 1977 Ford Granada Ghia sedan with an absolutely awful early computer-controlled 302 V8 that would cut out randomly while driving. For commuting, he bought a 1974 Ford Pinto *wagon* in olive green with faux wood

Goddamn if the Pantera isn’t one of the best car designs of all time.

Raph, I normally really dig your film camera photos, but something about seeing a hyper digital 2018 car shot on film just doesn’t do it for me.  These shots feel forced; like you were trying to make something out of nothing.  But I guess nothing is going to fix the Failing Toyota Design Team.

Body shops will LOVE those headlights.  I bet the smallest of nudges at the front will fuck those up.

My 2013 Volt has manual seats with height adjustment.  Because weight.  I hate it more than anything else on the car.  My Suburban has power seats WITH MEMORY and it’s the best thing ever.

Everything about this is fucking stupid. Why are the eMirrors E-NORMOUS, and why do they need separate screens? This is horrible and it should DIAF.

But an LS swap into here is going to be a very involved project.  The mere fact that the LS physically fits into the bay is just the tip of the iceberg.  Swaps are not for the meek.

I vote for mild cleanup/rebuild with a basic rebuild kit and a fresh carb, new/rebuilt accessories, fresh cooling system, new exhaust, etc.

Sleeping bag with air bags in it tethered to the car with devices to detach from the car for emergency extrication.

At the price of $6M, I feel like you should be getting your own bespoke car designed to your specs from the ground up.  And if it costs an extra million or two at that point, what’s the difference?  I mean, might as well have a Bugatti “SELFIE” or something, right?
