You can still get one - go get it fast. They are grandfathered for now.
You are also correct - but they will also not make new ones. So if you damage your vanity plate, the replacement will look like the new Universal Plate. The entire point of this exercise is to get the plates looking the same so it’s easier to identify cars with camera devices.
Illinois is killing almost ALL the special plates in June though. All special tags will be replaced with a Universal Plate with a special sticker. I’m sad about my alumni plates. Oh well. Seems it’s hard for the cops to keep all the plates straight.
Not a ricer. Just someone who worked in VW service 20 years ago and can attest to these early cars as being less than awesome. I did not coin the term Shit Rocket, by the way.
ShitRocket!
Dat LOPE doh!!! NP
OK, that’s cool. But I guess I feel like the quest for more speed is just kind of redundant. I mean, add more power and aero and you get more speed. It’s not really that complicated at the end of the day. I feel like we know all we ever need to know about turbocharged internal combustion engines. You just add more…
What’s up with the dirty brake fluid, though?
All great points. I’m sure they have some tricks up their sleeve. At the end of the day, though...it seems like any investment in Internal Combustion Engines is sort of a silly lack of resources in today’s world. Just focus on refining existing technology and implementing a new focus on hybrid drive, taking full…
I guess I’m not saying that we should all have turbo-4s. I had an SR20DET S13 (sold 12 years ago...sob) and it was great. But it wasn’t perfect either. I guess I’m just wondering why they are continuing to dump money into an engine that is fundamentally flawed in many ways. There are dynamics involved in the rotary…
Again, I’m not saying it’s an impossibly bad design...there are merits...but a regular 4-pot turbo runs circles around the Wankel in almost every way except “turbine smoothness”. Perhaps the real setup here would be an 8 rotor big block for the next Bugatti saloon.
I agree. My comment was basically sarcasm.
Can someone please explain to me why they would continue to pursue this engine? It’s thirsty. It’s torqueless. It’s finicky. It’s dirty. I get the history and I get that it’s unique...but why would they put money into this? Unless they can burn hydrogen with it....
I gotta admit...the grille and the trunk have me filled with love for my Volt.
The nose needs a reveal or texture or something. It’s strange. I know people rail on grilles on electric cars, but frankly, we are used to having some articulation on the front of vehicles. Regardless of engine position....
Just gonna say this: I needed to make a quick day trip to Detroit from Chicago yesterday. 285 miles each way with a 3 hour stop in the middle. That would’ve been a stretch in a Model S with the big battery, and impossible in the Model 3. Sure, I burned some dinosaurs to do it, but it was either that or drive my wife’s…
Maybe people will stop buying G-wagens (the worst luxury trucks ever). And that Austin Motel sign is hilarious 8====D
How many cars would really be imported if they relaxed any of these regulations? Less than 1% of the cars on the road? I mean, really, it costs a lot of time and money to import a vehicle. The only people doing it will be a small handful of enthusiasts. This whole situation is such a waste of time and money.
You are overstating it. And it will look better with a license plate, which most places require. I don’t mind it. My kids like the rear door handle placement on these.
