Disagree. Mirrors are dead reliable and something everyone is used to looking at. I have no interest in trusting a tiny pixelated camera and a cheap LCD to what would otherwise be a crystal clear reflection of car behind me.

E34 M5. I hate you.
It *is* too expensive. $50k to start for a mid-size crossover? No thanks. It looks good, but not that good. You know that out-the-door prices are going to be at least $10k bigger. $60k opens doors to a LOT of competition.
My kids (8 and 5) are crazy for some others....Wild Kratts, Oscar's Oasis, Larva, Plankton Invasion, and Peg + Cat.... I've never even heard of the shows you have in your Top 5. Are we from the same country (US)? And do you have PBS and Netflix?
Isn't the Grumman an aluminum frame? Maybe I misread that. Either way, yes, I think retooling could be an interesting solution, especially if they used a lot of non-oxidizing aluminum on the original ones...
I can only hope that Paul Ryan stuck around for when the driver came out of the store. Fucker probably cut bait and walked home hoping the cops would just write a ticket and be done.
An interesting thought...maybe just spend the money fixing the problem areas and improving the running gear. I like the idea. Also spreads out the cost over a longer timeframe as you could retool as budgets allow. Maybe 10-15 years instead of 5...
So, they might need to put a Range Extender in, what, 5-10% of their fleet? They can ask BMW how to do that. Seems simple to me.
Sure they will. Amazon has already hitched their wagon to that tractor. They have too much infrastructure to just disappear. Frankly, new trucks only make them more attractive to potential buyers/investors....
Fair enough...but the trucks you pointed to are, what, $60k+? I think with upscaling of the process to a contract of this size, they can get close to their price point....
I like it. Didn't know about it, so thanks for the head's up. But there is NO WAY those trucks would hit the $25-35k price target and also do everything the postal service wants. Maybe Ford will license them the Transit Connect design and they can electrify that. I think this needs to be a ground up, clean sheet…
If the new mail truck runs on any fossil fuel, it's an immediate failure in my book. These tiny things need very little range (in the majority of cases), and the flat load floor of battery packs would be PERFECT for this. This should be a competition between Tesla, GM, Nissan and Fisker (because of the A123 battery…
Having driven a new ATS and a new A4 in back-to-back Zipcar trips, I can tell you exactly why they aren't selling. The ATS is NOT the better car. Here are the key deficiencies in my book:
It all comes back to the flagship issue. If your flagship is a truck – and the Escalade is Cadillac's flagship – you're going to be a truck brand. Lincoln has the same issue. Cadillac's cars are great, but you need a premium car at the top to be a premium brand.
Not entirely true. You need to disassemble the bookshelves when you move them. Makes them last much longer. That said, I've only moved mine 5-6 times in 15 years... Also, re-tightening the connections periodically helps too (like every other year or so).
Except not AWD or Turbo. All the good stuff is not here. CP.
