Have you ever been to the parts of CA near the Nevada border? They’re extremely sparsely populated.

Any vehicle or device is improved by toggle switches.

The Japanese have been doing brand stacking for years, especially on JDM models. Mitsubishi Delica Star Wagon 4WD, anyone?

Serious question: What happens when your phone battery goes dead?

My dad had an old Explorer as his “fish car” and he’d do the same. Lock the keys inside, go fly fishing, open it with the keypad when he got back. He never had to worry about dropping his keys in the stream.

I knew someone who, for years, would buy only Oldsmobiles because she knew where all the controls were in an Oldsmobile and hated learning a new layout. She kept this up right up until Oldsmobile was killed off as a brand.

Yeah, I mean, if you can pretend to be straight except when you’re on vacation I guess that works. I never seemed to be able to fool anyone. I’m apparently really bad at performing stereotypical masculine behavior.

The Clarity is interesting because they built it in three versions: Fuel cell, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric. The fuel cell suffers from poor fuel availability, and the battery-electric has so-so range. But I own the PHEV, and it’s very well done. I got it to replace a Volt, and it’s superior in every way

The Ioniq5 looks like a 1980s idea of a futuristic car and I’m here for it. I love that bold crease down the side, I love the grid taillights. It looks like something out of Total Recall. The only thing I don’t like is the wheels, which don’t really fit the styling of the rest of the car.

Yeah, as a queer person “cheap to live there” is not outweighed by “run by someone who wants me dead.” I just hope his national political ambitions don’t go anywhere.

People want healthy food. They also want convenient food. It’s unfortunate that the two seem to be diametrically opposed.

I think given that the comparison is to New York, population density is not a big factor here. At least not in that direction.

As a CA resident I would be in favor of that as long as we didn’t have to have anything to do with FL afterwards.

Disc wheels were indeed high tech in the 20s. And after WWII many vehicles, especially trucks, were converted to take advantage of better tire availability. I have a motorcycle trailer that a guy made back in 1972 from the front axle and bits of the frame of some kind of pre-WWII truck — I’ve never been able to

2 seconds works if the car in front of you slams on the brakes. It doesn’t work in rarer situations like this, where the car comes to an immediate and sudden stop.

I’m pretty sure flashing high beams just means “I hate you,” kind of like the horn. I once had a guy flash me in Seattle when I was already in the rightmost lane.

Elon does seem to be having doubts about the future of BEVs. He’s now pro-drilling. It might be part of his slow transformation into a 1950s-style Republican CEO.

You know what, you’re right, I apologize. I long ago vowed to stop criticizing other people’s fetishes as long as no one’s getting hurt.

3rd gear: Anyone remember when IBM successfully defended a trademark on “/2"?

I’m hoping for a housing crash so I can afford a house.
