Yes there are. The idea that a city has to build every facility from the ground up is totally assanine. The idea that the games has to be consolidated into one place is assanine. There are facilities ready to go across the US that can host the games adequately with no need for new construction. Same with many other…
Rio is in the same hemisphere so the water drains the same as in Australia.
Of course people are scared, but that doesn’t make it pragmatically any less true. The idea that AI cars need to be perfect before they’re acceptable is a fallacious argument based on emotion instead of facts.
While we’d rather everyone make the best choice every time, the pragmatic view is to prefer whatever decreases accidents. If the drunk guy’s going to take his car home either way, it might as well be the AI driving.
Currently it is better than average, and by every accident it will improve exponentially.
I disagree, especially if autonomous features are replacing the poor drivers rather than the good ones. Don’t make the goal of perfection stop us from just doing better. If it’s better than 60% of the population, then it’ll prevent more crashes than it causes, and that’s a good thing.
You already share the road with people without licenses, intoxicated people...etc. It is what it is, and I for one am okay with testing the future now.
So the driver of the vehicle gets to make the decision for everyone around them to operate an auto-drive feature that’s still being BETA TESTED on public roads.
The question is still whether the technology itself is better or worse than the average driver.
If autopilot is more dangerous than distracted driving, then I agree. I doubt that’s the case, though.
I don't understand why people are blaming tesla. Autopilot didn't kill him, his inability to look where he was going did.
As someone who has struggled with suicidal depression, I can say A) that I know if I had access to a gun, I would be dead, B) my life matters and I’m glad I’m alive C) if I had a gun for protection and used it to commit suicide, it is a death that wouldn’t have happened otherwise, and would still be tragic. I’m glad…
I personally would rather be weird than my child be dead. I also don’t let my kid ride in a back seat that only has a lap seat belt. I really don’t care what I look like as long as my kid is as safe as I can deem him to be.
What are the chances of your child being killed by a gun during a playdate, and how does that compare to the likelihood of other playdate
How about pools? Gerd Gigerenzer wrote a book about how a pool on the property is more likely to lead to a dead child than a firearm.
My kid, my rules. I ask if there are guns, and if so, we invite their kid to play somewhere else (like at our house, etc.). In some circumstances, if I’m confident that the guns are locked separately from ammunition in a safe, and the keys stored somewhere there is no chance of kids getting their hands on them, then…
Yep.
Odds are, you won't know. Sorry.
Hudson is an idiot because she didn’t know how to spell Ta-Nehisi Coates’s name? Seriously?
