Hmmm apparently not. But I'm still open to hearing your story if you want to tell it.

Sure! Feel free to private message me if you'd like. You might also find RAINN's online hotline to be useful http://www.rainn.org/get-help/national-sexual-assault-online-hotline

Hey, we all cope in different ways! It's just sometimes nice to talk to someone who will not judge you at all and knows that what happened to you was not your fault. But believe me, I feel you on the drinking.

If you ever feel like you need to talk about it, here is a free confidential hotline 202-333-7273. It's the DC rape crisis center, but anyone can call if they need to.

So should the parents of the child also be arrested for child porn? Should they be fined every time their child posts something on facebook that ends up being sexualized by an adult?

I have a problem with "it's the parent's responsibility" argument. It completely ignores the negative repercussions to the child by viewing it as a punishment to the parents. Like, your child wouldn't have been victimized if you were a better parent, so this is your punishment for not being more vigilant. A lot of

We decide that people aren't a good fit for society all the time; it's called the death penalty.

Exactly! It's the difference between prejudice and oppression. They both hurt equally on a personal level, but one is systemic and one is not. Affirmative action is in place to fix systemic oppression, not individual scale prejudice.

That seems like a crappy compromise. The guys get off on objectifying and humiliating the women, and a photo with a blurred face would greatly diminish their ability to do so. And the women would still have their picture up on the site, and I know having my face blurred out wouldn't make me feel any better about it.

Why should their faces be blurred if there is nothing wrong with their pictures being on the site?

Clearly, if a minor doesn't have parents that stop her from "walking out of their home half-dressed" she deserves to be objectified. Because only the parents of said minor are hurt by her body being non-consensually sexualized by a bunch of creeps on the internet; there are no negative repercussions for her at all.

Hahahahhahaha

According to Predditor, a lot of these guys are married with kids. Some even have daughters, which is unbelievably gross.

Thank you for that explanation! I guess it never occurred to me that this kind of memorabilia could be anything but hurtful.

I think it's similar to collecting Nazi memorabilia. "I'm just really, really into history." Suuure you are.

I'm running on only a couple of hours of sleep, and in my head I read golliwog as pollywog. I was like "Gullah Gullah Island" was racist?!?!?!?! I was seriously relieved when I figured out that I'm just an idiot.

I guess we just have different view about how zealously prosecutors go after crimes of a sexual nature. It was my understanding that most rape/sexual assault cases never make it to court at all unless the prosecutor feels like he or she has a slam dunk case. And punishing the alleged victim for perjury worries me.

How do we prove who is being falsely accuse of rape? If we automatically assume that every person who says they've been raped is lying, then no one will ever come forward at all. Considering that there is a 94% chance that the person accused actually committed the crime, I think it's safer to err on the side of the

I'm late to the bandwagon on this, but only 3% of people ever accused of rape actually serve any jail time. So it's highly unlikely that any of the 6% of people falsely accused of rape ever make it to jail at all. And considering how we as a society are generally apt to blame the victim in cases of sexual assault,
