You don't get philosopher-points for recognizing how lonely The Doctor is, especially when every other episode a character is flat-out saying that The Doctor is lonely.

Jacob. He was the worst. Yeah, we get it, The Doctor is lonely. Recognizing that fact does not make you a genius and writing 20 page recaps harping on about it doesn't make you deep.
