I have a 2003 Passat W8 manual with 203k miles and it's still going and I still love driving it. I taught my wife how to drive it and I can't get to drive since she uses it more. One if the best cars I've owned. 

The VW Phaeton did something similar to this back in 2004 where it used pores throughout the car including the seats to heat and cool the cabin automatically. There were vents included if you wanted a blast of air.
