Helen Sigmond, Democrat and member of the Alamosa County Commission: “My goodness, they’re trying to make it sound horrible,” she said of Republican accusations of Democrats’ socialism. “But my goodness, who is Trump’s best friend? Putin.”

The right all over the world has since the 70s been doing everything it can to force individuals to depend more and more on asset appreciation for their well-being and long term survival. From the move to individual 401ks, IRAs, etc. in the US to “right to buy” council housing in the UK. They desperately want the

I liked that Arya was the one who killed the Night King, but how the fuck did she get through the thousands of wights and all the White Walkers so fast she could launch a running jump attack?

I don’t think Joy Reid set up anything. She’s too buys thinking about how much she hates gay and trans people to spend time thinking about how to get Sanders. It was pretty woke of SheThePeople to get noted homophobe Joy Reid to moderate their discussion.

Hey, come on now. Didn’t you and your buddies get that shit out of your system in 2008 when 25% of you voted for McCain when Clinton lost the primary? It’s getting a little tired at this point, refusing to vote for the Democratic general election candidate in such unprecedented numbers.

Damn, really bringing that underlying anti-semitism to the foreground. Forget the dog whistles about “shouty” or his rumpled suits (cheap Jew!). You are skipping the anti-semitic dog whistle and going straight for the anti-semitic bullhorn.

Making sure rich people of all colors can be seen in the boardrooms and Oscar parties of America. Meaningful shit like that which is very important to African-American women.

It’s weird you ignore the Black people who do “vibe” with Bernie. Those under the age of 35. You’d think they’d be the most attuned to the current discourse on racism in America. Since they kind of are leading the charge. You’re probably right that a political conference filled with politically engaged people are

In the interest of honesty and not being a Biden style plagiarist, I saw the “MAGA Democrat” idea in an interesting article at Slate.

Oh shit, I wasn’t even thinking that far ahead. But you’re right. She is going to fucking destroy him on the bankruptcy bills. It’s her literal specialty and he was basically the Democratic politician leading the charge to pass a bill with Bush and the GOP which was hated by the liberal left . And now we’ve had a

What a lot of people have been saying about his first campaign video. He is appealing to voters who think trump is an aberration rather than evidence of deep systemic problems in the gop and America in general. As if everything was on a pretty good trajectory until that fateful night in 2016. A kind of Democratic

No, thank you for the length! It’s very interesting to hear about it from a lawyer’s perspective which, being a lawyer and probably just my general personality, is the most instructive. Because it’s almost the only way you hear about the worst case scenarios. Any rube can understand how it can go right. It takes hard

I own some rental property in a gentrifying area of a major metro that i lucked into for a true bargain because as a lawyer too (not real estate though) I could do all the required legal work for the foreclosure and fixing the liens myself.

Have you rented a house under section 8? Have you looked at the requirements and the inspection process to be approved for section 8 vouchers? Do you have an idea what it would cost to get a 100k house in a major metro area up to requirements? Section 8 rentals in a low cost area of a big city isn’t some easy money

Where do you live where you can legally rent out a single family 3-4br home to 3-4 unrelated people without living there too? Even with living there it might fall afoul of local laws about how many unrelated people can live in a single family home.

It’s possible to try and appeal to their material interests and bridge the divide. That’s how they were won over in the past. But like you said, their mindless and blinkered self righteous belief they don’t need “handouts” but only get help they deserve (handouts are for “those people”) means they may be unreachable.

What does that even mean? If the “dogmatic hardliners” are a large part of the caucus then that means they represent a large part of the electorate. Well, at least 50%+1 in a lot of voting units.

Why not? How does his voting impact anyone else? It’s effectively meaningless in the context of an election in that it won’t, by itself, change the outcome. And there are so few “terrorists” in prisons that it’s not like they’ll all band together to vote in a terrorist representative at any level of government.

If you’re a republican saying “It’s a punishment”seems to be totally acceptable. But that’s a weird position to take if you’re running in the Democratic primary.

We don’t strip all civil rights from prisoners. They’re guaranteed constitutional protections just like non-prisoners. It’s just that the courts have held, like for any constitutional right, they may not apply for whatever reason in regards to certain actions by the government in respect to prisoners.
