Since we are a new market and are still pretty small, the dealership gets allocations even if the cars are unsold. In fact, two or three years back they almost lost their license from Ferrari because the had an unsold f12 sitting in the showroom that they decided to export to a foreign buyer that would bypass the wait

That’s quite interesting to read. Is porsche really any better? would any dealer really let a first time customer order a 991.2 GT3RS or a GT2? I personally live in a market with such high taxes that the local Ferrari dealer would absolutely take anyone’s cash just to be able to sell one 812 a year.

I remember Chris Bangle getting so much shit for ruining the Z4's design, but I personally always loved them, even more in coupe form.

I remember when the McLaren 650 came out, the online configurator had an option to select different color seats for the driver and passenger. Since then they have removed the option from the configurator, and I haven’t been able to find a photo of even one optioned this way. Always thought it was such a cool idea, I

Jason, thanks for this great article. I love it that you guys choose to pursue journalistic work like this when you recognize a potential story. Personally, I think this could have a huge impact on Ferrari if true.

If I were an insurance company, I would certainly be looking into this. If Ferrari knowingly helped owners roll back odometers to “scam” insurance companies and future buyers then that is a very very big deal, potentially diesel-gate level shit.

I use Player FM on AA. As far as Waze support, at this point rumors are the dev work is pretty much finished and the company is waiting for Google to approve a roll out.

Wait, did FCA commission this car simply because the Hellcat lost to several Teslas at the drag strip and some people posted the videos on youtube? If so my heart goes out to them, and I truly hope this one can beat the P100D.

its going to get a v12, so yeah probably more than 475 bhp

Why, of course I would like some audi a4 in my mazda 6!

They care about the data much more than about the revenue they would get from licensing the tech. Automakers aren’t opening up to the idea of giving away all this data, see Android Auto for example.

They bought Motorola for their IP, not their production. If they were to buy Chrysler they really wouldn’t need Dodge and Jeep though. For a ride sharing service you would only need 4-5 different models since people really don’t care if they are picked up in a honda or toyota, but rather if its a “luxury” sedan, a

Here is the thing: It would be easier for an automaker to develop autonomous tech than for a tech company to start building cars (see how long its taking tesla to get their quality to where it should be). At some point every manufacturer will figure out its cheaper in the long run to develop self driving tech than to

Also, selling Ferrari, which was seen as a prestigious status symbol for FCA, was most definitely done for the money. Fiat is an anchor proping itself up on Chrysler (read: Jeep) sales. I’m sorry, but when you depend on Chrysler to stay profitable, you must be fairly desperate.

My money is on Google purchasing Chrysler in the long run. They know that in order to compete in the autonomous ride sharing business they will need to have vertical integration for cost purposes, and Fiat-Chrysler really needs the money. That, and I see no other American automanufacturer that they could possibly buy.

fair enough, almost twice the displacement of the M5's engine. As far as hp/liter is concerned the 585 is not any better.

585 cubic inches is over 9.5 liters, almost twice the size of the M5's engine which is a 5 liter v10. Its a silly comparison.

I’m really surprised so many automakers are still gunning for the S class instead of gunning for what will be (quite obviously) the new luxury flagship category- the one dominated by the Range Rover. None of the Germans have a five seater with the size and presence of the RR, at most we have the xc90 and q7 which are

Compare the rear bumper to the M kit rear bumper that was already unveiled, I think this might just be a regular m kit

I’m skeptical. Why? Because it doesn’t have dual pipes on each side, which is something the M division has been sticking to pretty strongly. There have been rumors in the past about a performance hybrid so maybe that’s what this is.
